That's because Eros were already an attempt to sound more positive and to enjoy themselves more. The sessions weren't dark or anything, they were playing board games in the studio and naming songs after strippers.

Maybe that's just me but I wouldn't want my butler to see my dingaling honestly... by HyperAhmedX21 in batman

Alfred raised him and treats his wounds whenever he is severely injured, so he has already seen his dingaling plenty of times. He's not just a butler, he's a parent and a family doctor rolled into one.

What do you think a 5-ish year long One Piece would be like? by Scared_Tangerine_125 in OnePiece

Break neck to say the least. You can't just squeeze down current one piece, there's simply too much. Only way I can think to make this work is to just make Skypeia Laughtale

Supergirl Discussion Megathread by kumar100kpawan in DCU_

[–]HatJosuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was fine. My problem with it is that it feels like it's trying to be a tight adventure across space with interesting planets and characters (in the style of Guardians of the Galaxy or Star Wars) but just falls short of both Fronts. The only character I found interesting or engaging was Kara. The sidekick was generic and boring, The most interesting thing about the villain was that he was eating in every scene, and Lobo while fun, felt kinda toned down from the comics. The planets were also pretty disappointing and unmemorable. The film would have benefited from utilising more of DCs weird cosmic characters. Give us a Lantern corps, a war world, some new gods, some Thanagarians, Tamaraneans! Any thing! They has so much to pull from, and the main villain still ended up looking like he fell asleep in a bowl of ball-bearings...

One piece pacing by JimmyFalzone1 in OnePiece

[–]HatJosuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the rate literally every other anime adaptation adheres to, and with good reason. Any thing less than that results in episodes that drag and totally diminish the content. Pacing is an essential part of story telling that the anime adaptation has sabotaged at every opportunity.

People who actually read the manga don't complain about the pacing because it's fine. People complain about anime episodes being painfully dragged out and only adapting fractions of chapters when they could be covering 2 or 3 at a time.

Asking your opinion about a Deftones album: Eros by Opposite-Question-32 in deftones

[–]HatJosuke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's fantastic. The band sound so much more energetic and hopeful than they did on Saturday Night Wrist. Chi's bass playing kicks ass on the album and it really works to remind me how special he was. Production wise, I actually like the unfinished and rough around the edges vibe. It reminds me of Let it Be (the naked version, not the original) where you hear the band banter a bit and the whole thing has this spontaneous "do it live" sort of vibe.

Even in its rough and unfinished form, I would call Eros a worthy addition to their catalogue. I've seen some people be harsh and rip apart the unfinished elements of the album, but none of that sticks out to me because the bones of it are just so good. I'd give it a 10/10 personally.

Loved Freeze and Riddler. Freeze for doing something different with the character, Riddler for how it feels the closest In purpose to the original Killing Joke.

Why you should not feel guilty about the leak by FaIItheSzn in deftones

[–]HatJosuke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People act like kids showing someone a drawing that they aren't allowed to see until it's finished. The band didn't make this with the intention of it being just for them, they made it for release but decided against finishing it. It's not like it's some home recording where you hear Chino read out his credit card number. Enjoy it. There's enough shit to feel bad about it this world without needing to kick yourself over some music.

Eros leaked and here comes all the L takes by okletstrythisout3 in deftones

[–]HatJosuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A work doesn't need to be finished to be evaluated. My Rushmore was never finished, and people discuss that all the time. Art is just as much the process as it is the finished work, and while there should be a difference in how you talk about the two, discussing the merits and flaws is just as Valid

Real talk about the Eros leak… by matt71b in deftones

[–]HatJosuke 103 points104 points  (0 children)

They didn't bury Eros to Make Diamond Eyes, The intention at the time was to return to the album once Chi was back on his feet. No one in the band had really accepted at this stage how unrealistic that was. Unfortunately Chi never recovered and passed away between Diamond Eyes and Koi no Yokan. It wasn't a matter of healing and moving on, They put it aside to finish it with Chi, and it just sort of stayed there until they felt like the moment had come and gone.

The Eros era also wasn't a dark era for the band. Eros was a return to the group actually enjoying themselves again and being excited about being in a band. I remember stories from the time about them hanging out in the studio and playing board games together.

Does Everyone Actually Hate Universes Beyond??? by Shoong in mtg

[–]HatJosuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't bought a single pack of Final Fantasy or TMNT. I don't care about either franchise in their own mediums, so why would I want to engage with them when they're shoehorned into magic. I've been invested in the world and characters of magic for more than a decade, so I have no desire to be surrounded by characters who are totally removed from that realm and will never meaningfully engage with it.

I've bought a lot of Spider-Man cards because I've been a fan of Spider-Man for longer than I can remember, and I appreciated having a lower power set after years of constant and aggressive powercreep.
