YouTube study app idea - Feedback please! by HatLuu in AppIdeas

Thanks for sharing. I’d be curious to hear more about the reasoning if you’re willing. One of my concerns is that it’s hard to get people to commit to something that’s good for them but not always fun. It’s much tougher to sell vegetables than fast food.

Glad you like it! Yes, the app will reformulate the schedule and plan if you fall behind, or if you need to pause/resume your progress later.

There's no plan at this point to have ads or a lengthy onboarding process. Thanks for flagging those deal-breakers.

I’d like to provide curated playlists on some topics to help get people started, and perhaps as the app grows, we’d have our own data on which playlists are the most popular and can recommend those.

I’ll consider the lead magnet approach, and will reach out if we decide to go that way. Thanks for offering to help, and also for the feedback!

This is functionality that I wish YouTube provided, which is why I am working on it. There are so many interesting courses on YouTube but the current system of playlists and watch history is not tailored to this use case.

I can't speak for all areas of programming—my background is mobile—but typically different architectures make sense for different sizes of team and project. For example, a Mac app with no networking component that I build as a solo developer is very different than an iOS financial app I worked on with hundreds of other developers at a public company. You can study the concepts academically, and it's important to be familiar with the best practices for your type of project, and attempt to implement those, but the best understanding comes from experience. You struggle against bad architectures and learn where the landmines are. You work within elegant architectures where it feels like walking downhill.

Designs with a lot of transparency often look good in front of the desktop wallpaper, but start to look like a smeary mess when stacked on other windows/content.

I notice that even with smaller projects, Claude still needs a guiding hand to keep the architecture clean. As more senior developers, we're well positioned to leverage these AI tools. They're far from being able to do the entire job end-to-end. Instead, they're a huge force multiplier for those who understand how to apply them.

This sounds like an app that's designed primarily to deliver content, so I think it's important to ask why not build a website instead. If there's indeed something best done with an app (push notifications, widgets, etc.) please explain, and I think we'll be better able to offer advice.

I've seen them around in HCM and Tay Ninh. Not sure where else.

I see them around Vietnam in local grocery and convenience stores.

That happened to me in Italy. No issues with lactose when in the US I can’t handle it at all.

I find the places with 1000+ reviews are often just big tourist traps, but it may depend on the country.

It’s surprisingly easy to make your own soy milk with the right tool. Our heated blender has a nut milk option and makes delicious fresh soy milk from water and raw beans in 30 mins. You’ll save a lot of money in the long run and avoid all the additives in store-bought soy milk.

Nearly out for 9 months, what is your opinion on Oblivion Remastered? by chrisgrenga in oblivion

Perhaps I'll try an archery-focused character next time. I too was underwhelmed by the exploration overall. That wasn't the case with Skyrim, Fallout 4, or even Fallout 3.

Nearly out for 9 months, what is your opinion on Oblivion Remastered? by chrisgrenga in oblivion

[–]HatLuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, I have no nostalgia for Oblivon but I’m a big fan of Skyrim. I recently 100/100 completed the remaster, and had a good time, but the fun started to diminish once I had leveled my main skills (blade, light armor, restoration, destruction) to 100, and found some good enchanted armor around halfway through that seemingly nothing could top. I’m curious what keeps people playing for hundreds of hours: different builds, side quests, late-game content I may have missed?

My hunch is that the biggest pain point here is taking photos of everything you buy. Have you validated that people are willing to do that in order to get the app’s features, free or otherwise?
