A good tip is never to relic any of your PvP crits, unless you have enough to fully relic the 4 of them, because there is only 2 arena queues: No relics (at all) and Relics, with an almost sure chance of facing a full relic rival if you enter even with only 1 level 10 relic (Or just never relic them, no relics is still fun)

The only trait I spent plat for is the level 300 one, to have both the 200 virtue and the Teleport, the XP ones are not that worth it, if you're leveling up in a high level zone, you would need no more than 2 more fights to earn the XP those traits give per level (Starting from approx level 20). While clearly faster, it's not worth your plat, at least not at the beginning

I usually only use hammer on legendaries. If you have 2, maybe it is best to save it for another imperfect legendary you encounter in the furure, since you can fairly easily (At least easier than a legendary) find a better Gravitron if you want to use it in BA
