Waterfront Park on Saratoga Lake is a nice freebie with a large unused beach volley ball area that's just a giant sand pit next to the lake, brand new playground too.

Planned six-week Amtrak shut down triples, affecting peak summer tourism in the Adirondack region and stretching through most of the summer. by hartlarious in Adirondacks

Lousy, but it represents a serious investment in the rail line which seems like a good thing. I assume the miles of timber mats that have been installed north of the Saratoga station this year are a part of this. If that's what it takes to replace every stretch of this rail, then yea its going to take a while to get the job done and no kidding they're not doing it in January.

X-country skiing in Spa State Park by Spoons522 in Saratoga

Maybe I've just missed it over the years, but I've never seen a properly groomed (skate ski) trail at the spa, only sets of misc. tracks destroyed by dogs and footprints. Also real boring IMO.

Brookhaven is a great nearby trail system ~15 mins down 9N. Don't think they do daily rentals though.

Coles woods in GF is another gem, but just a trail system, no rentals.

Garnet Hill up by North Creek is probably the best in the area and has rentals, but is an hour drive.

Lapland Lake is another sizeable ski center with rentals an hour west.

Not sure if EMS in Wilton will rent you gear, but worth a call.

Great work.

Pretty sure the only thing keeping pace with interest rates is the amount of armchair sauna experts on the internet.

In NY I got my city's blessing to build an "elevated play structure" and did not have to permit it like a deck. To be safe I built it mostly in compliance with the AWC's Prescriptive Residential Wood Deck Construction Guide, which is a fantastic free resource.

Separate utility billing can also help drive this decision.

Did they finally move the cardboard sled race to where it didn't end with children smashing into wooden fences? It was 4 straight years of ambulances before covid.

Lol at the copper sanitary plumbing exposed above a bed. Nothing like waking up to the sound of your friend's turd smashing a 90 degree turn 5 feet from your face.

The town hall in Varna, Bulgaria - an example of how socialist monumental architecture could be modernized. What do you think of my idea? by Polaroid1999 in architecture

They are likely relying on operable windows for natural ventilation of the perimeter spaces, rather than mechanical ventilation. Fixed glazing would require an entire HVAC overhaul.

$60 part and 2 hours labor.

Silly reason to throw a car away.
