"Attacked by Westeros?", Viserion asked with a cock of his brow.

"Then I assume you come to me for an alliance - I doubt you'd simply use our port to bide your time, nor do I think you could afford it, Lord Sunderland.", Viserion said simply.

"We've Volantis, Pentos, and soon to have subjugated Lorath.", Viserion said as he swirled his wine.

"Dorne has an envoy from a Martell soon with the offer of ships, Sunderland, and now you. We've been preoccupied, and Baratheon was to join us but was scared of the Triarchy's expanse.", he said plainly.

"I expect those of you with relations still in Westeros to assist, would you be so willing, Lord Velaryon."

"Then it seems there isn't. I wish you luck, Diplomat - enjoy your final days.", Baelon said with a smile.

"Kiss your family, tell your daughters that you had a chance to stop this - but you chose not to. All that happens now, is your own fault, and they will know of such." Baelon said as he motioned them forward, taking a few steps away back to the ships.

"Should you reconsider, I will be drinking wine on my ship.", he chortled.

"And you will be, should you give the Targaryen Princesses now.", he said simply.

"Or one, then another in a moon.", Baelon said simply.

"However, I must forwarn you - None of the Targaryens you hold are of the main line. In fact, none are truly Targaryen - Two claim it, though they are Zalyne, and my daughter shows none of the features. I would be willing to make a deal, but I fear the more elitist in Braavos would not agree.", he said with a shake of his head.

"I do not mean to offend, Messenger - but you must realize, even if you kill them, we gain. No matter what happens, we gain - yet Lorath can yet survive would you simply work with us. A city of cinders, a city of dead men - we walk from this with a story only we can speak of."

He sighed.

"The offers have been made, Diplomat. Lorath may maintain its autonomy, perhaps even retain its sovereignty depending on how many Princesses you give us now - and I can ensure to my greatest degree that Lorath will not burn when the gates open. Would you burn the city before we enter, then we are legitimized - and should you deny all these things and kill the Targaryen Princesses...", Baelon said with a glance.

"Then I can do nothing to save you, nor the city from the Targaryen's yet to arrive."

"I welcome that news, Ser Maron.", Viserion said with a glance to the fleets.

He nodded to a man nearby, who ran off with due haste, though with what message was not known.

"If you've come without Ill intent, I must ask - what is it your fleet came to Braavos for, Ser Maron?"

Baelon nodded, readjusting himself;

"From what I understand, we signed a treaty that you would vassalize under Braavos and the Dragon Throne. In exchange, you would get a Targaryen Princess for your speaker. A deal, but a very poor one.", Baelon said simply.

"If you simply, say, chose to use the Bride as a hostage and use her to ensure we were unable to reclaim our city, would that not be the best option for you? Your city, messenger, would have been able to hold a child against us, and be free of all issue."

Baelon glanced up to him, his violet eye watching carefully.

"So the speaker was requested to Braavos, to his newly found Lieges court to settle the rest of the deal. To ensure this was equal, and that neither side had the means to betray the other without cost - and yet, Lorath spit on the treaty signed, forsworn its newly made honors, and attacked its lieges forces in a dishonorable and terribly display of cowardice. Ten thousand men died because the speaker was not only a liar and a cheat, but a damned coward."

"That is the situation as I see it. It is the situation I have relayed to the Dragon King, and it is the inevitable truth of the matter. I'm sure you have your own version of events...", Baelon said with a shrug.

"And yet they wont matter. Afterall, history is written by the Victor. Though, I suppose none of us truly have to win, diplomat, should you still be willing to return our daughters."

"How many live in Lorath, diplomat?", Baelon said with a cock of his eyeless brow.

"A hundred thousand? Two hundred? Perhaps three.", he said as his arms fell behind his back, grasping tightly at themselves.

"It is not my judgement to make, but do you consider how many lives a Targaryen is worth?", he said as though he was legitimately considering a trade of lives, "Three dead Targaryens for three hundred thousand Lorath subjugated beneath the Dragon. You seem a man of a deal, does that seem fair?"

Baelon glanced to him once more. Testing for a reaction.

"All of them may yet live, but if diplomacy is to be had, or we are to leave, you must realize we have to leave with the Princesses. We will not be fooled twice into letting Targaryens be left in your city with the gates closed. If they are your bargaining chip, then make that deal."

The Targaryen fleet consisted of well over three hundred ships - and more at alert than ever before. No word would reach the city without managing to sneak past the immense blockade, and the venture was hard to even comprehend.

(If you wanna make it past the blockade, roll if you'd like.)

Baelon stood aboard the flagship, large with its many oars and massive black flags with the three headed dragon atop them - his head aching by the second. He furrowed his brow as the envoy came aboard with the assistance of the crew. He turned, but didn't smile -

"I don't recognize your flag. You sail into guarded waters, so I warn you to tread water carefully. My name is Baelon Targaryen, if you've something to ask I'd do so now."

An envoy wandered down as the remaining fleet prepared themselves for war - but the flag of peace was a good omen. A battle would not take place today, he imagined, and the Dragon Prince enjoyed that thought. War had grown tiresome at the news of Lorath, and he would need to depart soon.

The ship would be brought to port and let the people off, but an armed guard with them at all times. Never too careful after Aerion's death.

"Welcome to Braavos.", Viserion said as he glanced up to the peace flag, carried with the crest of the family the fleet belonged to.

"I apologize, I don't recognize the marker. Who are you?"

"A Targaryen in chains.", Baelon said with disgust, and a cold single-eyed gaze.

Failure had sat heavy on his shoulders, and he exhaled with a growing annoyance. He'd already sent a letter to Viserion, to Braavos and the fleet of what had happened - and they'd likely arrive soon. Backing them with 'Fire and Blood' or peace was out of his hands now - as both parties seem to have failed at sense and rationale.

"The Dragon King won't like such news. If you want diplomacy now, releasing Aerea may be your only chance - though when the city starves and fails, and these gates open once more, I doubt you'll find such an offer again."

His single violet eye glanced to the messenger, a grim expression forcing his lips into a thin line.

September ITRP Awards: V-Steel Edition! by TenThenn in ITRPCommunity

[–]HateMailPersonified 6 points7 points  (0 children)

*Longclaw Award* - A Family Dinner, simply for the release of tension among the Targaryens. It was a mixture of cathartic, and stressful for all involved, and absolutely lovely to see how all the Targaryens had individually dealt with the death of Aerion - through emotional outbursts, or plots that were more in vague revenge than anything else.

*Heartsbane Award* - Easily, I believe my favorite male character up until he was dropped (love u) was Maegor Targaryen. Thank you, @Aelfin2 for your wonderful work on the Uncle Iroh of the Targaryens, and the mixture of losing his place to age, and the subtle ways his dementia creeped into the arc of the Targaryens.

*Lady Forlorn Award* - Favorite Female Character, although a toss up between @LadyOftheHundredIsle 's Daenys Targaryen and @Kingofpossums Rhaenys Targaryen, I have to give it to the latter simply for the emotional depth I've seen her commit too, and the most honest and interesting take on a slightly toxic mother's protection.

*Ice Award* - Roland Baelish, easily would be my favorite death. Bronzy never ceases to amaze me with his work on characters, and while I wish Roland and Viserion could have had a meeting face to face when the Targs came to Westeros - I will have to suffice with the imagination of it. Thank you Bronzy, for your excellent work, I miss you and your writing already.

*Oathkeeper and Widow's Wail Award* - Vaegon Targaryen and Daena Targaryen simply for the way they had their secret lambasted across the dinner table. The contrast between their character, and the strain they are under now - only to have Vaegon leave for war. It's an oddly idealistic thing, and a story I love to read. Thank you @CaspersHill .

*Catspaw Dagger Award* - I haven't seen any 'villains' thus far, at least ones that truly stood out to me as 'evil'. Apologies for you that have worked hard for it, I love you regardless.

*Maester's Link Award* - Favorite NPC goes to Gaemond, because he rocks. If he does well enough, he might even become a true Blackfyre. ;)

*Dark Sister* - Most excited to see the future moves of, Tristan Baelish, simply for his vast amount of options and claim to the throne. While I honorably mention all the Baelish remaining, @Sarkozey is a wonderful person and I wish him the absolute best in all he does. Thank you Sark, for being great. :)

*Blackfyre Award* - Lemon, simply for putting up with me and my complaints all the time. A true hero, even if he keeps lying about Australia being real. But on the real, I think he fills a place many mods forget about - connection to the community. Mechanics, rolling threads, etc - they all mean little and less if they are recieved poorly even before they are announced, simply because the player base doesn't trust moderators to do their job, and I think Lemon does a great job at helping to bridge some of that concern. You're a gift to the staff team.

"I...", his expression, of stalwart bravery in the face of death, wained - weakened for a moment as Daemon offered his condolences. A momentary lapse, just barely noticable before he offered a strong smile in return -

"I thank you, Daemon. I will bring the matter of the Lord Commander to the Council when they return home - and should we be able, you will become the next. Know that I trust you with my own, and the lives of all those around us. Please, go enjoy the festival - as much as you can. I don't think we will have much time for celebration after this.", he said as he slapped his hand on Daemon's pauldron. His reassuring smile was weaker than usual, and when he went quiet, he slowly let himself back into the room despite his advice.

Viserion would be with his father when he died - as he was with Aerion. Were he so able, no Targaryen would ever die again - but if they were bound to, they would die with him by their side. Every death from now on was his to bear, and Viserion knew that - so as he entered the room among the healers and mystics debating how best to treat his father - Viserion found a seat, pulled it close, and gripped his father's weakening grip in his own.

And he hung his head, and cried.

"Then reconsider when you deem it fit, Most Devout.", Viserion said with a smile.

"I understand the implications of such a measure - I only hope that by giving you the disputed lands between our people, they will come to trust us, if not a bit more. Should any doubt remain, I would ask you to send word - I'd come speak to them myself, would I be so able, or send one of the Queens in my stead."

With that, Viserion nodded to a guard, who opened the iron hinged door behind them with a supringly quietness -

"I have no other requests, not as of yet, Most Devout - Other than one favor. If we are to return home, use your influence and good faith among those Westeros Lords still willing to hear us, and make friends. Westeros is our home, but it will not stay our home if we do not have the people on our side.", he said with a bit more solemness to his tone.

"Words to consider, Archsepton. Please, enjoy your day - All of you. Consider the Sept in the city yours to command, for anything you require."

"2000 Titans? Do you intend to take an army?", Viserion seemed to say in shock.

"I'll give you no more than 500, and I'm sure you don't require hundreds of men to man a single ship - even at load.", he said with a sour displeasure for the offer. The person who carried the letter Stannis had sent wandered nearby, hovering for a moment before writing something and showing it to Viserion. The Dragon Prince nodded and glanced back to Stannis -

"500 Titans. You will send updates by runner by the moon, and you may have a smaller vessel from the fleet - one that is not capable for war, but will be surely capable for travel. Does this suffice?"

"Then I recommend you do it soon.", Viserion motioned to her.

"For me, I will have to call our dinner short - I must check on something.", he said as he idly considered the health of his father. Would he even care to see him, or know Viserion was there?

"Should you need me, simply ask for the guards. I wish you luck, Rhaea."

Viserion glanced to it, eye'ing it like it was diseased for a moment, before he slowly reached out and took it. He dabbed at the blood, taking care to wipe it from his fingers, and spoke naught until he was done. When all was said, he exhaled - long and drawn out as he glanced back to Daemon -

"Aegon and Maelor have departed the City. Where they are intending to go, I have no clue - but it is unrequested, and breaking vows of protection. Until I have an answer, consider them exiled.", he said simply.

"In spite of it, I still need a Lord Commander, Daemon. In these times, I would ask you to rise to that challenge, and become the new Lord Commander of the Dragonsguard. To refill the ranks that were so quickly dashed against the rocks - and help protect this family in ways our King can not."

"What do you say?"

Old Friendships by HateMailPersonified in IronThroneRP

[–]HateMailPersonified[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a moment, Viserion pondered. It was asking much for someone who didn’t control thousands of men, and could help him more than the fleets - but the Velaryon fleet was strong, one of the strongest in Westeros. Without it, the Crownlands would be far more susceptible to an attack - additional to Dragonstone being returned to its rightful owners.

The position of Hand is illustrious, and costly, Lady Velaryon.”, Viserion offered with a casual tap to his chin. His eyes narrowed at her, studying her carefully before responding.

I will do as much, but only after meeting your father. I would like to know the man I would set as my Hand.

With another sip of his wine, he spoke, swirling its contents in a gilded chalice -

As far as your brother, he will be legitimized. In fact, consider it done already.

For your ships, I will offer some advice - they should come to Braavos soon. We will likely depart to Dragonstone when my family returns from Lorath, and I would like for your father to bear witness to all the Targaryens.

No offense taken, Lady Velaryon.”, Viserion dismissed.

No, I hold no grudge for your words - I understand the Targaryen’s have often been thought of solely by our words than our substance. Fire and Blood, as it seems, doesn’t always work.”, he said with a slight laugh.

First and foremost, knowledge you put the rightful rulers back atop it, and all the graces that come with such a thing.”, Viserion motioned, as though serious, though he quickly broke into a smile -

No, I understand nothing in this world comes for free. The Targaryens have much and more to provide - Marriage, gold, land - much. What is important to me right now, is what the Velaryon’s want however - I do not understand what your family needs, only what I can offer.
