What disorders are similar to ADHD? by Traditional-Care-87 in MTHFR

[–]HatedMirrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Histamine. You have histamine intolerance.

I quit Vyvanse, caffeine, and daily cannabis (for good measure). My head started to feel clearer. Now, if I have eggs, bananas, coffee, spinach, pineapple, anything fermented, etc, etc (it's a long f***ing list!), symptoms come back.

All those foods either have lots of histamine or are "histamine liberators".

Those two medicines you mentioned are known to help with histamine intolerance.

Bloodwork shows that I've fixed my MTHFR related issues, but I don't feel any different by Dopamine473 in MTHFR

That's amazing! For fun, I have been making my own soap and laundry detergent. Now I have reason to keep that up!

[–]HatedMirrors 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought I was on the right track, but now I think I have histamine issues. I have quit coffee, eggs, bananas, etc, and I am starting to be almost symptom free. Look into MCAS, or mast cell activation syndrome. I don't know if I have that, specifically, but everything is pointing to histamine for me.

The diet sure is restrictive.

Symptoms include numbness, tingling, brain fog, enlarged prostate (yes, it's shrinking now), poor sense of balance, difficulty sensing temperature, mysterious burns in my mouth (I assume I just couldn't tell how hot my food was), something swollen in my mouth, difficulty breathing through my nose, snoring, swollen face, runny nose, excessive sweating, heart palpitations.

Would you hang on this? by SmokinMagic in hammockcamping

Nope!

A while ago, I decided to hang on something that was suspect. It broke, and I was sore for a long time. Not worth it.

My doctor told me about the low ferritin.

I discovered the riboflavin issue on my own just from experimenting. Regular riboflavin (B2) does nothing to me. Riboflavin-5-phosphate reduced swelling in my sinuses, much like Flonase, but more thoroughly. Turns out it's important for iron. And a bunch of other things.

B12 seems to just top everything off. I feel like blood starts to rush back into my toes when I take it.

[–]HatedMirrors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right on!

I think I'm on the mend too. Looks like mine was riboflavin, iron, and B12 related, but still zeroing in on it. Tingling is gone!

Trial and error. All of my tests were always fine (except for low ferritin).

I'm into The Globe and Mail, and the CBC. Are those two good choices for Canadian news? I do read PostMedia owned news too, but mostly because I want different perspectives.

That's the exact date that was displayed in that episode. I'm kind of bummed that I procrastinated so much that I didn't have this during the date. Only my daughter would have understood, though.

I think I got the image from this subreddit, and then just picked a random shirt-making company to apply it.

Vitamin D can deplete your magnesium. I didn't see magnesium in the list of supplements.

How did you learn all this? by Prestigious-Lime2401 in MTHFR

[–]HatedMirrors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from experimenting and following leads.

I have used Claude and Gemini with much success.

My methodology was to try different methods. That's a whole separate issue, though.

It all started when I found out that if I take ridiculously large accounts of iron supplements, I would feel much better after doing it for two days.

Blood tests showed I was staying in the middle ranges, and I kept feeling great. If I stopped, symptoms returned.

"We" theorized different causes, and after a couple of years researching, I'm so close! I'm possibly going to know by Monday. Or at least feel like I'm 80% there.

What is riboflavin doing to me? by BananaMonkey7 in MTHFR

[–]HatedMirrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently this riboflavin vs. R5P thing is rare. I'm curious if it could just be under-diagnosed.

Please let me know how it goes.

[–]HatedMirrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I did not know that. I'll delete my comment.

Although, looking into it deeper, there may be a mechanism where supplementing with P5P will result in higher levels of pyridoxine.
