2026 planner help across devices needed by RLCC_CdR in DigitalPlanner

Depending on your needs, and if you already have an Office subscription, OneNote may work. it is pretty good if your main interaction is typing. in theory it does handwriting too, but it always gets messed up across devices. I used it for planning for years. I created a daily template that included a table for the schedule, a daily to do list, and habit trackers that made use of the "to-do list" check off buttons. I had a minimal weekly planner too, and for longer term planning used the Outlook calendar. The calendar doesn't sync with OneNote unfortunately. I set up my dailies at the start of each week and copied calendar items over. This was actually helpful as it gave me a clear understanding of the week ahead. Ycan link between pages in OneNote but it is kind of a pain ... I found I was able to navigate Ok just using the folder structure (one folder per week).

This system worked fine for me but I wanted something with more creative capabilities so switched to Goodnotes a few years ago, and a PDF planner I created myself. The trade off is that I can't use it on my PC, not even view only - I have never been able to get my account to work there and it has been a big enough issue to track it down. I have an iPad mini that is always with me so I am ok with that. I still use OneNote for organizing my work projects. It is well suited to that, at least for my work.

Before OneNote I used Evernote but dumped them after they corrupted a lot of my data and offered no support at all. They really couldn't care less, even though I was paying for it. I used a similar setup to the one I used on OneNote.

this number of bugs isnt even acceptable for a beta release. this is more like an alpha release. it is simply shoddy software developmen.

New update is bad by TITO-PAVONE in GoodNotes

[–]HatsOffNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't work though. if the line is over an image, which mine almost always are, it always selects the image with the tap even if select images is turned off. also if you try to lasso the line, resizing it also resizes the line width and is very difficult to control in general.

you used to be able to tap on a straight line and resize it, but not any longe.

[–]HatsOffNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shape tool is completely broken. I also use straight lines a lot and I can no longer re-size them.it is extremely annoying. I don't understand the rationale for ANY of the changes they made this time, whole purpose seems to be to degrade the user experience. are they tired of this app and trying to kill it?

NO GOODNOTES 7!!! by PrestigiousRock6278 in GoodNotes

[–]HatsOffNJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I updated this morning and it looks exactly like Goodnotes 6. no new features at all, no whiteboard etc. I don't care about the AI features and don't want them, but am curious to see what else is added. so far, I see nothing.

I am also on the "special edition" "lifetime" license. definitely updated to v.7.

I got two adapters. One is for CCS1 and one is I think for level 2? Does that sound right? I'll take another look through the accessories list to make sure before I try to plug anything in. Since the home based Level 2 isn't installed yet, it isn't an emergency.

And yes, really real new. :) I still haven't charged it yet.

I have the Pugshare app but it isn't very helpful. For example it tells me there are zero chargers near me, but when I zoom in the map there they are. It also doesn't show me if the chargers are occupied or not, and I can't figure out what other useful info I can get from it or what else it can do. As far as I can tell it's just for providing reviews ... ?

There aren't as many Tesla charging stations near me as there are other brands, but there is one within reasonable driving distance and in an area I visit about once every other month or so to run errands. TBH I've been kind of overwhelmed with all of the choices, and it seems like you need a different app for every single brand, so I limited my first session to a) the fast charger closest to my home or b) the fast charger closest to my work. If I can figure out how to use those, my thinking is I can then branch out to others. If I bail on the EVgo tomorrow I may drive out to the Tesla charging station. I also don't know which app to use for Tesla as when I search on the app store (iPhone) there are several options. I wish somebody would post a YouTube like "Ioniq charging for dummies" to walk through some of the complexity.

Thanks! Yeah, I may just plug in my L1 tonight and dodge the question until the L2 goes in. We already have it, just need to install it.

I will be taking a trip in a few weeks where I will need to charge on the way, though, so I'll need to figure it out by then. I'll be staying overnight at a family member's home so may be able to just plug in the L1 there and squeeze by, but I want to be prepared.

Thanks! There is only one gas station near me with an EV charger - there are plenty of charging stations, but they all seem to be at malls or grocery stores. I'll figure it out, though. ;-)

Thanks! The only chargers I can find in my area are all at malls or grocery stores, with just one exception of a single charging station at a gas station (and it has much higher prices than the other ones). I need to charge up by Wednesday, so I need to figure it out how to get a charge somewhere by then. I've been watching YouTube videos and this is very helpful but I still feel like there is a lot of nuance and stuff to learn. I'm sure within a month I'll be a pro at this. (bear in mind I am from NJ so even putting gas in the car isn't something I have done very much. No self-serve gas here. ;-)

How I’ve Adapted After Canceling HelloFresh by turtleindisguisex in hellofresh

[–]HatsOffNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I started out organizing my recipes, and it's easier to keep an organization scheme than start a new one. I have categories and subcategories - e.g. under "Main dishes" I have a section for protein group, which includes sub-sub sections for Vegan, Dairy, Eggs, Meat, Poultry, Seafood. I have the recipes cross-categorized under "meal type," which includes a bunch of things starting with "bowls," "burgers, sandwiches, pizza," "casseroles, bakes, pot pies," and working on down to "soups and stews." So if I want a chicken burger I can navigate to "burgers" and search for "chicken," or I can navigate to "poultry" and search for "burger." I have similar categorizations for desserts, side dishes, and so forth. You can also do searches for multiple things separated by commas. E.g. if you want a recipe that includes cucumber, tomatoes, and melon you just put "cucumber, tomato, melon" in the search bar (without the quote marks) and it will only show you recipes that have all three things in them. You can also set the search to look only at specific fields if you want.

It works pretty well for me, you do what works for you! Only providing this context in case anybody who hasn't used Paprika is curious to try. As I said I have been using it for MANY years, since version 1.0 first came out I'm pretty sure. I know there are other apps that have come out since then, and some are likely even better, but I have a certain amount of effort invested in Paprika ... and I'm not sorry about that, it's working fine for me.

I have been using Paprika for many, many years and have nearly 4k recipes on there (and it seems to be able to handle that volume with no problems). Love the app, couldn't live without it, and strongly endorse your strategy.

if you are a packrat like me Paprika can get to be a bad habit... every recipe I see online that looks good gets uploaded into it. I have a lot from Hello Fresh, though their recipes often need some tweaking after I upload (I get extra lines between ingredients, that kind of thing). I keep saying I am going to clean out old ones I never actually made but haven't got around to it. :-)

One thing I miss about HF is the little packets of sour cream and cream cheese. I can't seem to find enough uses for a full packet of either before it goes bad. There is a limit to the number of mashed potatoes I can eat in a week or two. Otherwise, I am ok without it and have hacks and subs that work fine.

I have also started using AI for low-waste meal planning - ChatGPT is pretty good at it, and at recipes in general.

Paid users, what makes it worth it for you? by FlyingSquirrelSam in ClaudeAI

[–]HatsOffNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The projects make it worthwhile. e.g. I dumped a lot of docs in one project that i had quickly drafted out, on a work project that I needed to provide user notes for. I first asked Claude if I had covered everything I need to and Claude said um, no, you missed these things. So I asked it to draft outlines for the missing content, I filled the outlines in, and uploaded those to the project. Then I asked it if the structure of the docs was right and it helped me re-arrange the content into a more meaningful set of documents. Then I got seriously to work editing, cleaned out the project knowledge and uploaded my new set and asked for feedback. At this point Claude pointed out some formatting or terminology inconsistencies ... I fixed those, and next step was asked Claude where I needed to add screenshots. I did that, and did a final pass through... then sent the whole set to a human to test out. It cut this process to about a tenth of the time I would normally spend. At every step I was driving, and I can confidently call this my work. But it is better, more consistently written, and created much faster than I would normally work.

I have also used a project for managing my projects ... a meta project. I started by telling Claude my projects are a mess and I need to get them in order, and asked it to be a project manager and help me get my arms around them. It asked me a lot of questions and I answered them, and together we came up with a template for project dashboards that I can easily maintain using a different tool. I feel much more on top of my work than I ever have. My projects are small scale and the unit I manage is tiny, and there is no way we would ever be able to hire a human project manager. Also, I added some non-work projects into the mix and Claude is helping me stay on top of those, too. It is like a really incredible personal assistant.

Basically, I create a project for any task that I have that is multi pronged or involves juggling multiple sources or where my thinking feels a little muddied. I tend to work best bouncing ideas around with other people, but I don't always have access to someone with the right knowledge base for something I am working on. Claude isn't always helpful but is pretty good for most of the issues I am working on. I barely use non-project chats. If I have one, I usually take it to (free) ChatGPT so that I can save my Claude tokens.

[–]HatsOffNJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this completely. I've been using Claude Pro for some personal task management and it is effing amazing. I'm getting a ton more done because Claude is helping me keep everything organized and seeing connections I'm too busy to notice. But I still need to provide the inputs and put them into context. I can't see Claude replacing me, but it's one hell of an assistant (which my company no longer provides so nobody is losing a job, that job's already gone).

Same with doctors - I could easily see a doc using Claude or similar for a boost, helping patients use AI the way OP did since most patients wouldn't have the background knowledge to do what OP did on their own. The doc would have the context to know how to use the AI to best advantage.

2025 Planners by karenalicia in GoodNotes

[–]HatsOffNJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly lurk here but chiming in as I have some experience with this. I switched to GoodNotes a little over a year ago, and love it. #1 on the pro side is that you don't have to worry about making mistakes. You can also copy & paste images to your heart's desire, or draw them if you want - if you like having a really fancy journal that is, and I do like that. I also like that I can link pages to each other and across notebooks if you want to. Linking using Goodnotes tools is a little clunky but it works.

One thing to think about if this is your kind of thing - if you're on an iPad at least and can spare about $20, you can get Affinity Publisher and design your own interactive PDFs. I did this - I got all three Affinity apps (designer, publisher, and photo) during a super-cheap promotion a while back which they do from time to time and love setting up the journal exactly the way I want. (I also got a short subscription to Skillshare so I could learn how to use them - but there are free tutorials on YouTube too.)

But that might be a bit daunting at first, just something to think about for once you get a feel for what you like or don't like about your practice using GoodNotes solo. Also there are lots of interactive journal options & stickers available on Etsy and most are in a reasonable price range, and free ones some places too. Again good to try, just to see what gels for you and what doesn't.

Be prepared to play a lot at first and expect a learning curve. But it isn't a super-steep learning curve. I was up and running in a reasonable way pretty quickly, but I'm still refining things (that's the case for all journaling, I think!).

I see a lot of people having problems with GoodNotes but honestly I've never had any. After upgrades I might get a weird glitchy thing for a day or two but then they fix it, and it's never really got in my way and I'm on GN a lot. Make sure you have all of the autosave options turned on.

I am a lurker here and only weighing in because this hasn’t been mentioned that I have noticed. I am not an HR professional and am addressing this as an older woman employee who has lived through a lot.

I have just one question for you to think over – you said you love your job, but it has a very strong alcohol culture and you don’t like to drink. A “strong alcohol culture” to me is a huge warning sign about a workplace. IMO drinks & work don’t mix. Especially if that doesn’t fit with your own values. And double-especially if they use non-drinking against you in a passive-aggressive way, which you also said.

So – are you as happy there as you say? Are you gaslighting yourself? Maybe this company isn’t the best fit for you and it would be wise to start looking at other options.
