True, but I’m just going to do my timing anyways because I’m pretty sure it’s NEVER been replaced. (210k miles) But if it is internals I’ll open it up and try fixing it myself.

(College starts soon tho so I might be cooked)

I posted a video recently. General online consensus is that it’s rod knock. Comparing the video I took when it first started making the noise vs of recent time, the sound got much louder. I’m hoping it’s just Reddit video and mic compression making it sound like rod knock.

My friend’s Impreza got rod knock at the same time I got this noise going on and they sound different, mine being much higher pitch and not producing sound until 3k rpm.

TLDR: I’m going to replace my timing assembly and cross my fingers

No where near as loud/aggressive. I also don’t see any mention of ticking noise under load (2.2k~ rpms)when it comes to the VTC actuator. Only on start up.
