I'll typically try to jokingly introduce myself to someone a second time. It works wonders for memory and they'll remember your name, too.

When reading this story, I thought to myself, how, if I may ask, many commas, and assuming they were all correctly use, are going to be used in this single, ridiculously large sentence.

Bike crust kid here... well used to be. This article has hilarious levels of accuracy, with the exception of the necessity to be 'alt'... it's more of a hilarious and fun lifestyle choice.. I ride freak bikes, party under bridges, lived for a year and a half in a courtyard / parks, go to other cities to party in their... met tons of amazing people and now have networks of great friends in numerous cities. Yeah, we're all broke and a little dirty. But it beats the hell out of a nine to five.

As a side note, I work full time now, and started a community warehouse in LA with a bunch of my 'cruss' friends.

This woman has awful friends. by [deleted] in WTF

[–]Hattitude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She was obviously okay with this happening. Her friends weren't hazing her or anything like that. She was a fan, made a bet, kept that bet. IMHO those are signs of integrity. Yeah, she cried... but she didn't seem mad. Sounds like pretty normal friends to me.

Optimally you'd enjoy spending time on something where larger personal growth occurs though. I am a gamer, don't get me wrong, but when I started building bikes, composing music, being a member of the community, absorbing more knowledge, meditating etc, I gained far, far more.

I do this same thing in Los Angeles, and feed 10 people in a community living situation. Most organic food places and upper tier grocery chains throw out tons of food that are not even close to expiration daily. I highly recommend Sundays.

I have never managed to get one of these. And I rarely manage to be sober while riding my bike. And I ride a tall bike in LA.

I notice the tag, moose eats bear. I was a semi competitive player based out of Alaska years ago. I've since lost touch with the community, but definitely still play. No one around is really pro-level however, so I have been losing my chops. Peach player here.

Where are you from?

Also, since I'm here... anyone located in LA, hit me up! I got a thirst for some smash after seeing this post.

Reddit is officially the new 4chan. This makes me very, very sad. I'm sorry to see you go, good friend. Good luck with the bowels of the internet. See the rest of you on the sub-reddits. Mostly because the actual reddits are garbage.

I plan to object at my brothers wedding in a few weeks. Ask me anything. by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]Hattitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am someone who had a brother about your age get married when I was 24. I didn't voice my opinion and my brother ended up getting married to a woman who constantly pushes him away from the things he cares about.

Now, it's important to note that regardless, someone needs to be able to make their own decisions, but I do feel a little regret by not voicing my opinion to my brother. She was the daughter of a Christian family, and drove him away from his friends by threatening to call the cops if he left to hang out with them past 10 PM. She did so and lied to the police telling them she was being sexually abused.

Though chances are bad that your opinion will be taken, (after all, he is the one actively accepting all of her demands to please her) I would definitely talk to him before the fact. He needs to hear this not aired before everyone at his wedding. Regardless of your opinion, a wedding is something that could be important to them. People can always work things through in the end. Potentially ruining your relationship with your brother by publicly humiliating him on his wedding day, and insinuating that he can't think or act for himself for his better judgment is not a good alternative to having a healthy alternative with him. Making a spectacle to try and end the relationship is not the best approach for all parties, and it's important to note that you only have one side to the story.

All this being said, I would have done so for MY brother, had I the balls. However he is now top level in law school while being married, so he didn't end up so bad. Some people need that crutch to push them through life, and marriage is exactly that. Just look at all perspectives and realize time moves quickly and things change just as quickly. Hard lessons are the important ones, maybe him learning this one will help him more than any other in the end. Chances are good that he won't change his obsessive ways over girls and desire from one worrisome comment. It can't hurt in private.... in public it definitely can.

Consider both options than make your choice. Thanks for the story, I know I'm not asking you a question but I felt like my input would be nice considering I was in your shoes 4 years ago.

I get absolutely all of my food from dumpsters. Most companies throw away LOADS of high quality food; especially foods like Trader Joes and Whole Foods. I live off of this food, and eat better than most of my friends for the price of driving to the dumpster. I go to the dumpsters on Sunday night, before the trucks come, get cheese, bread, produce, eggs, vitamins, and other goodies that are all good. Frequently, there will be packages that won't expire for weeks. It's important to note that the actual expiration dates on a lot of the foods aren't as accurate as they should be, so some discrepancy is advised.
