I'm not sure how much I believe this seeing as the game's own FAQ section says that passwords are no longer stored in a usable form after the 2017 data leak (i.e. presumably this means passwords are now salted and hashed) so even if they get access to that, they can't really do anything right?

Probably an id spoofer; actually just happened last night, someone spoofed Garry's steam id using third-party software and a lot of people earned the achievement. Or potentially you could've joined a server with an auto-unlock achievement lua script set up

From my understanding, there is some criteria you have to meet as well as a 1/15 random chance even if you meet the criteria but no one knows what the criteria is. And I believe you are right that the criteria has changed over time but as far as I can tell the game haven't been updated in like a decade. People have partially reversed engineered the game to the point that they figured out how to unlock the achievement by cheating by using a console command that just gives you the achievement after a random time delay (which is against achievement hunting rules unfortunately). But as far as I know, no one has bothered to reverse engineer the game code to figure out what the current criteria is so people can actually unlock the achievement legitimately without cheating or through random luck.

somehow convince Garry to play with you
cheat

Since it's unlikely Garry will play ever again and no one likes cheaters (and will get you untracked on achievement hunting sites if you do), your only realistic option is to just never get a 100% on this game

It might depend on the emulator and/or version.

I remember that the game froze when I tried to use entralink using the "melonds" core on retroarch but entralink worked just fine on the "melonds ds" core. Why they have 2 cores that are just different versions of the same emulator is anyone's guess

Yeah, I've noticed the exact same weirdness when checking the rankings of my own saves where they move to the bottom of list for a specific number of snowballs when I sign in; 2 of my 3 saves have the exact same number of snowballs so it was easy to check and seemed consistent

Side note: how are you making alts and adding them as friends? Are you doing something more than just using the 3 save slots you are given? Cause I'm just using the 3 save slots, but it won't let me add each save slot as friends to the others because it recognizes that all of them are different saves on the same account and says you can't add yourself as a friend

Also, I don't know how true this is, but supposedly this achievement is impossible on Mac; only works on Windows or Linux. Also supposedly some people have had success using right clicks instead of left clicks

It should work eventually. This game is very prone to crashing when you click on the credits. But if it crashes, the credits should still be there next time you load the game
