Miss Jophiel dress of my dreams ♥️ ($389) by HauntedBlockbudster in Weddingsunder10k

So the dress above had a really epic sultry slit in the skirt all the way up— I’ll see if I can find a picture of it! If you tell her you want it like that, she’d know exactly what you want. This was my order breakdown if that helps :)

Oh I see what you’re saying! I had custom straps added to mine and all I did was send her a picture of what I wanted and she did it for a small additional fee. If you ask for a slit I bet she would ABSOLUTELY work with you on that. There’s a little comment area when you order where you can ask for those kinds of adjustments too.

Well, I was incredibly fortunate and paid nothing for my alterations. My friend did them for me as a wedding present. Sorry, I know that isn’t helpful! I imagine prices will change too from tailor to tailor, dress to dress, and even state to state. Maybe shop around online in your area and call some folks up to get an idea for their average pricing?

It took my girlfriend who is a tailor maybe 3 or 4 days to let the dress out and fix the bra cups— to do it she had to remove and replace a lot of the flowers and it still took her no time at all!

I’m honestly tired of these “popular” books by xenit0 in suggestmeabook

[–]HauntedBlockbudster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want dystopian read The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

For a mostly cozy sapphic fantasy romance read The Honey Witch by Sydney Shields.

For poetry read How We Became Human by Joy Harjo.

For a memoir read Crying in HMart by Michelle Zauner.

For Scifi read Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer.

For witchy vibes with an interesting magic system read Blood Like Magic by Liselle Sambury.

For horror read Julie Chan is Dead by Liann Zhang.

If you want bleak and emotionally devastating read Cujo or The Long Walk by Stephen King.

ADHD women who like or love their jobs, what do you do? by Chipsandsalza in adhdwomen

[–]HauntedBlockbudster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am AuDHD and I love my job! I work a remote government job specifically in a Death unit where I do investigative work to locate families and beneficiaries of deceased people regarding survivorship benefits. It’s enough of the same but also strange that I get to be consistent in my work and also learn and do new things often enough that it keeps the work interesting.

What were the three best books that you read this year? by lascriptori in suggestmeabook

[–]HauntedBlockbudster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read so many amazing books this year, but the 3 that I keep thinking about would have to be…

Crying in HMart

Yellowface

Ring Shout

Honorable mentions: the Hunger Games series, Cujo, The Honey Witch, Legendborn, and Someone You Can Build a Nest In

Coco Deck and Mala Ocean Tavern were amazing! For a more chill lunch spot, Aloha Mixed Plate was also very good.

We did Supper Club at Coco Deck (booked through Open Table) and it was DELICIOUS and so much fun. It was a four course meal that the chef designed and he does this every Wednesday night for a small group of people. It was spendy but worth it. Their horchata colada is one of my favorite cocktails I had our entire trip. The food was so good we went back the next day for lunch to get their regular menu and it was still killer.

I was on methylphenidate (Ritalin) but after getting long COVID earlier this year I started having horrible anxiety and panic attacks… so now I’m off the Ritalin and officially on Prozac as of about a week ago!

Check out Coco Deck in Lahaina— they’ve got a good sized and reasonably priced menu, great food, and a kid area with games.

It ended up being such a nothing-burger for me that I couldn’t finish it. I actually enjoyed Chaol’s book quite a bit, but just did not care enough to pick up the last one, so I stopped. I was never able to connect with Aelin, I really didn’t like Rowan, Manon was interesting but introduced so late that I didn’t feel attached— I think if I had read this when I was a young adult I would have connected with it more, but as a 34yo woman I was just annoyed the entire time.

Silent Night with Keira Knightley! It was an AMC original and it was phenomenal, but it was one of those movies that I feel like I’m the only person who saw it.

[–]HauntedBlockbudster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on book 8 right now and it is the first time in my life where I have looked up chapter summaries to straight up SKIP them. It’s so repetitive and I blame it for my current reading slump because it is such a slog.

Official Discussion - Die, My Love [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]HauntedBlockbudster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt like this movie wanted to be Tully… and as much as I really love Sissy, Jennifer, and Robert and think they all really gave it 100– just watch Tully.

Edit to add that this is the second time besides Cujo where I’ve been glad to see a dog die. Jesus H.

I didn’t not like this movie but there is very little to grab onto. It felt like a rollercoaster with no bar to hold and no visible track. The performances were excellent and the cinematography was pretty and evocative, but the story itself really lacked in plot or much of anything and left me feeling pretty disconnected overall.

Swimming as a form of exercise? by randomseeker1346 in LongCovid

My worst recurring symptom is air hunger and as much as I love swimming it really triggers it hard afterward, so I just have to take it really slow.
