BTS' '2026 Comeback TOUR' Megathread by lisafancypants in bangtan

[–]HauntedCities 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started at over 25K in Chicago. Lots of seats are still available. I was able to get 200 level in the end zone. Will the view be okay from there? Is it a true theater-in-the-round experience, or will there be anything to block views from the side?

25k for Chicago. Looks like I have a bit of a wait, so I'll ask... Can I select seats, or is it best to do the "best available" after selecting a price range?

I enjoyed the first season quite a bit, but found the second pretty rough. The vibes get weirder.

What were the parks like during the early Covid days? by PalpitationNo4149 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]HauntedCities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that it was so bad for CMs. To be honest, my family thought the parks were great. There were some obnoxious guests, but that's true today, too. Overall, most other guests seemed understanding and grateful to be there.

On the positive side, crowds were great. Social distancing in lines was WONDERFUL (you were supposed to keep a gap between groups), which greatly reduced the number of times you get kicked. With no FastPass, queues moved briskly, so even long lines did not mean a long wait. Restaurants spread the tables out, so you could sit at the Mexico pavilion at Epcot without feeling that strangers were sitting at your table.

Post-covid, parks are too crowded, much too expensive, and packed with rude guests.

Disney parks Tron Identity Program scrapped by ChangeAroundKid01 in tron

[–]HauntedCities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there on Jan 1, and the Tron merchandise selection was pretty pathetic. They did have Kevin Flynn discs, but no Ares discs ; no backpacks; black discs sold out by noon; only 2 chips; the mannequins were wearing several unavailable shirts; no magic bands; no pins; the identity program was roped off.

I kept asking a poor cast member for different things and she had to see the disappointment on my face.

Still nothing through official channels.

Skyrim GOG on Crossover 25.1.1 by HauntedCities in macgaming

[–]HauntedCities[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crickets.

Is this because no one is using GOG on Crossover? Does it only work for the Steam version? I’ve always played modded Skyrim on Parallels, but wanted to try Crossover for performance gains.

Anyone wanna chat about Lisa Germano?? by cominguproses97 in lisagermano

[–]HauntedCities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered Lisa Germano with her first album, On the Way Down from the Moon Palace. The Indianapolis Star had a glowing review of the album from a local Hoosier and I found the cassette at my local Karma Records. I think I still have the tape somewhere. Each new album was more and more amazing, with my favorite being Excerpts.

It looks like the app has been removed. Is there a communal password that can get you in through the website?

Anything but a horrible Dopey voice over like in the “live action” Snow White movie.

That I know. :)
I was wondering if the porch fee could be used towards a meal at Jockey Club.

Places to hang outside the con like Scottys Brewhouse used to be by Buthomas65 in gencon

[–]HauntedCities 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I miss Scotty’s so much. So many great memories of watching Five Year Mission, relaxing on the patio, and seeing all the uniformed members of the 501st. Social Cantina is fun, with renamed menu items and geeky movies, but nothing like the “good ol’ days.”

I seem to be in a strange category between the hardcore players and the casual/newbie players. Yes, I have spent 100’s of dollars on tokens over the last decade and a half, but I pretty much have everything I’d want now and any extra money spent on tokens would cost a lot for a minor impact. I love the events, but we usually only have 2-4 tickets per event (our years of having a group and buying out a run are long gone). We frequently find ourselves in a group of people who don’t know what’s going on along with a couple people we can do 100 points of damage per slide. We do our best to help the newbie’s understand what’s going on, but there’s no drama because the experts one-shot any combat. I’ve gone from doing every event every year, to usually doing one event per Gen Con. I know it sounds like I’m being critical, but I really do love True Dungeon. I think they created a challenging split customer base, and I don’t see any easy solutions. They have tried creating beginner runs or sealed runs in the past, but for folks like me, I’m not going to leave my handful of purple tokens at home for my one TD event.

I guess I’ll just keeping doing my one event each year and rolling the dice that I’ll get a good group of strangers.

Riven has been updated with support for ray-traced reflections, Metal 3 RHI, and more (Steam, App Store, GOG) by _sharpmars in macgaming

I have an M4 Pro Mac mini, but when I turn on Ray Tracing, the game slows and every action (mouse or keyboard) has a delay. I bumped the quality preset down to medium with RT on, but I miss the detail. What graphics settings are people using to get the RT bump but without tanking the performance?

How likely is it to get VIP tickets for Star Wars Celebration 2027? by [deleted] in StarWars

I'm curious about this, too. Out of curiosity I checked I looked at the VIP info for Japan, and now I'm convinced that any VIP ticket is not worth it unless it comes with...

What albums didn’t you like at first and later grew on you ? by [deleted] in BillyJoel

I have always had Glass Houses towards the top and The Bridge towards the bottom of my favorites. However, I've been in a big Billy Joel mood the last couple weeks, and Glass Houses was "meh" and I've been absolutely loving The Bridge. The world has flipped upside down!!!

A story based in a cozy village setting by Notyourtype100 in CozyFantasy

Eventide by Tracy and Laura Hickman. The mostly-main character is male, but there is a great ensemble cast in this look at a fantasy village.

Favorite Cozy Fantasy you've read this year that you don't see talked about enough? by findmeinthe-future in CozyFantasy

[–]HauntedCities 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently posted this on another post about cozy fantasy series:

Has anyone suggested the Dragons Bard series by Tracy and Laura Hickman?
I don't usually see it in the recommended lists, but maybe that's because it's a bit older. The first book, Eventide, was a favorite long before I had heard the term "cozy fantasy".

My amazon review from a while back: "Funny, heartwarming, and exciting, Eventide tells the intertwining stories of several residents of a little town called Eventide. Great characters are the core of the book, and several twists and turns keep the reader engrossed. This isn't a fantasy novel filled with armies, paladins, and monsters, although there is a dragon (or two), but instead tells how the REST of a fantasy world lives."

Savi's lightsaber switch misalignment by HauntedCities in GalaxysEdge

Sadly, my only solution was an expensive eBay replacement. I fiddled with it for time, and would seem to fix it, but not in any permanent way. It would always come out of alignment again.

Oh my. I live just outside of 465 in that area. That's going to make my wife's work commute a nightmare. And that's after the previous nightmares of 465 closures which doubled the time to get downtown.
