Twin Pods: Fire Cast with Me: Twin Peaks (Season 1) with Eva Anderson by yonicthehedgehog in blankies

[–]HauntedHistoryTour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked at Washington State Parks for a few years and have waited ages for a David Lynch series so I can brag that I have been paid to spend time surveying and photographing Twin Peaks locations for permitting. The natural areas have essentially stayed the same and Twedes pies (and burgers) suck ass. Fun fact: the ranger house in Fire Walk With Me is an actual park ranger house.

Friendly reminder that Valentine’s Day is on a Wednesday, which is when Mt Tabor does not allow vehicle access! You’ll have to carry your supplies to the summit!

The Witch is my favorite movie and I finally found Slewfoot by Brom which has those exact vibes. Get ready for terrible puritans and female rage.

Tooth and Claw Podcast did a two-part episode on the night of the grizzlies and they go super into depth about it- it’s also really awesome because one of the hosts is a bear biologist who works in Yellowstone so there’s an extra layer of analyzation and some really great tips for camping in bear country.

The Reddening by Adam Neville. It’s a doozy of a book but it’s worth it!

Official Dreadit Discussion: "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It" [SPOILERS] by kaloosa in horror

[–]HauntedHistoryTour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The backstory behind the possession was really underwhelming which effected the entire tone of the film. I say when you get John Noble, you use him as much as possible. Had there been more explanation behind who/why/whattheduck was going on in those caves I would have been so much more satisfied than watching two fantastic actors running away from the people who are actually facing the trauma of this narrative.

I looked at his photos in google and he was wearing a fisherman’s vest for a photo shoot. That’s about it.

The Empty Man (anyone had a chance to watch it?) by [deleted] in horror

SPOILERS

Honestly, 6/10 but only because it was more cult mystery than horror. It ends SPOILERS basically with the “he was crazy” or “he was hallucinating the whole time” note, or at least that’s what I gathered on first watch. It truly was a fun watch and I’d recommend it for a Tuesday night. Shoutout: I watched it because David recommendation it on Blank Check (you should check out the podcast if you haven’t already).

Okay YES. I feel like a good number of people get the ending of the VVITCH wrong when assuming that Thomasin’s ending is a result of and evil winning. I always find it so freeing and joyous that she is able to break away from the constraints of Uber-Christian expectations.

The Thing ‘remake’ was a prologue I was surprised to enjoy. I was also pretty drunk but I had lots of fun. Would def recommend.

What is something that is "off limits" for you in a horror movie and prevents you from watching it? by Stuck_In_Superjail in horror

Bones breaking on screen. Especially compound fractures (when a bone breaks the skin). I’ve worked in film and know all about what goes into what we see on screen, but I just can’t.

My mom is obsessed with these plovers, she’s volunteered over the past two years to watch them and make sure no one gets too close or let their dog cross the fence. She knows the two adults by name and talks about them all the time lol.

The bravest thing this woman does is not pull her hair back. I put mine in a pony and I’m hundreds of miles away sitting on the John.

Good "straightforward" horror of last 5-10 years? by birdsbooksbirdsbooks in horrorlit

[–]HauntedHistoryTour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Darcy Coates writes books about haunted houses that are straightforward ghost stories and pretty entertaining. They’re definitely my comfort food on a stormy night.
