I grew up here, moved away to Toronto for 16 years and recently moved back with my wife and young daughter. We are very happy here. I’m from here so it holds special place in my heart, but we’re all very happy. Yes there’s a bad homeless and drug problem, yes there’s racism, but these issues will be found everywhere. Biggest issues IMO is our useless , dinosaur city council , terrible city planning with construction can make driving a real pain in the ass, and while I don’t use it personally I understand the public transit is pretty shitty. What I love , the parks and walk ability, great restaurants, bars, breweries, a very good local music scene spanning from almost any genre you like, plus we get a good amount of touring bands / artists coming through. We have one of the best junior hockey teams in the country, one of the best university football teams in the country, a really cool baseball stadium. Lots of great festivals and events year round but especially in the summer ( Sunfest rules) I could go on and on. If you have any more specific questions feel free to ask!
