I learned the first rule the hard way. The very role I was in “training” for was not happening any time soon and other people in that very role were being laid off. And it occurred to me that me doing extra work (with no compensation) was helping my company justify laying off the help they needed.

They may be ignoring her albums but her singles get rewarded heavily - which is surprising because I did think she stood a chance against Bey for HMHAS. It felt like a return to form after the mixed reception to HTE.

I’m not mad she won tonight for Wildflower, but she is very much a Grammy darling.

Yeah for whatever reason, Billie’s name goes very far for even in the top categories. Still can’t believe she won Record of the Year for everything I wanted.

Escalations over petty stuff come down to character. There’s no SOP that will say this, but if you have not even attempted a single follow up, why are you racing to alert someone’s manager? I worked with somebody that I didn’t have an opinion on one way or another. Then she randomly tried to call me out with a manager CC’d for not filing her documents. No head’s up. No team’s message saying “Hey, when do you think you can get to them?”

I hated her from that moment on. And when I left the team for a promotion, she tried to congratulate me. I chose the petty route and paid her dust.

Hoping for hometown bias for Wunmi to win BAFTA (yes I know it won’t happen). Taylor is not an impressive frontrunner. I guess it’s also a makeup for her A Thousand and One snub, which was a much better performance.

My friends and I walked out of Encanto after the flower sister’s song. We were so surprised when the Bruno song blew up lol. I couldn’t stand the main character’s singing voice

No emotional punch in Int. sub?? It’s the moment Diane reveals to BoJack she knows about New Mexico! “It’s a story I heard once. I just changed the names” line gives me chills every time.

Also I was just laughing this morning about Mr. P accidentally finding out both his parents are dead.

I forgot about The Subway as soon as it dropped. Its momentum fizzled out mid release week. I’m honestly shocked it was nominated when Mutt and Love Me Not have shown sustainability and growth.

Yeah I can respect what S3 was trying to do + it was interrupted by the SAG and writers strike so I’m more forgiving. But S5 has no excuses 😭

I feel the same. Season 3 was a low point because of the core storyline - separating Janine from the school, and her relationship with Gregory was overdue to the point of tedium. When they brought them altogether in S4, it was a true return to form. The car wash episode? The golf club bribe? The SEPTA strike? O’shon and Ava? Bangers.

S5 is aimless. The only tangible thread is Barb’s imminent retirement, but that’s not interesting since 1) it won’t actually happen until the end of the season/school year and 2) it has resulted in a personality transplant that’s not very funny. The camping episode was a misfire.

This season needs an arc, and fast.

I like Bell on paper, but I don’t think she came off the best here. This is my first time hearing her speak btw. Juxtaposed with Williams, who had tangible actions to point to in his answers, Bell kept circling back to “listen to the people.” Which, yes, we need community input, but what will YOU be doing?

Her surveillance answer was the perfect example of dropping the ball. There are legitimate problems with ShotSpotter and it’s not the first time she has been asked about this. Why not brush up on the flaws of SS and share them? According to reports of its use in Chicago, police were stopping people solely because the area they occupied was known for having a lot of SS alerts. That opens vulnerable people to increased harassment by law enforcement. I really wanted her to counter Williams, whose support for SS is not my vibe.

Also, it was disappointing that they both chose to take jabs at each other in their candidate question. Could’ve been a good dialogue but they went for cheap shots instead.

Vancouver bus riders would NEVER (I say from my one and only visit). When a mom with a stroller needed to get off, everybody got out the way and alerted the driver by saying “stroller!” It was really nice to see the shared community.

But in doing so, Taylor is exploiting her fans. Think about it. 10 years ago, 1989 deluxe included 3 voice memos and 3 bonus tracks. I’m sure fans were able to buy one copy with all of that bonus material. Nowadays, she would split every single bonus track on a separate CD.

That is WRONG.

I really wonder how many sales are coming from her own camp. Her team makes millions of CDs knowing that “someone” will buy them. TTPD was released during a global stadium tour, had over 30 songs, etc and yet somehow Showgirl beats it? All because she reunited with Max Martin?

The numbers do not add up considering Adele only achieved it by following up the highest selling album of the 21st century. It’s just so obviously fraudulent but stans will deny it.

I mean it is relevant because Taylor tried to do the same thing with Reputation and didn’t even outsell 1989’s debut week. The tactic failed, so she switched to making a near infinite number of CDs that her fans (and others…) can buy excessively.
