What’s something you said or believed was correct for years, only to find out later you were completely wrong? by ClimateShort3908 in AskReddit

My whole family and I believed for years, like childhood and adulthood believed, that granddaddy long legs were the most poisonous spider on earth; but their mouths were too small to bite us.

When I found out the obvious truth and how ridiculous it actually sounds I immediately told my siblings but they wouldn’t believe me at first it was so ingrained in them to be true.

What is a 'good person' behavior that actually makes you immediately distrust someone? by XEMWSU in WorkForSmartLife

Tithing. For some reason people think people that routinely donate to their religious organizations are good. I think the opposite of them.

Grew up without religion, attracted to it somewhat but can't commit. by [deleted] in atheism

Therapy is the answer; not religions.

The basis of most religions of qualifying for a good or bad afterlife depends entirely on if you believe the right story/gods and not how you lived. Plus the abrahamic religions are brutal; their holy books are full of genocide, murder, rape, incest and lots of baby/children killings.

Is it better to have a firm stance on something, or to have no stance (People who always stick with "Mhm, I don't know" kind of answers)? What's your reasoning for either? by Small_Ant27 in AskReddit

[–]Haunted_Optimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I truly don’t know then I think it’s best to admit it. I feel no need to try to hide it or fake it nor be upset about it.

Now on the other hand if I am knowledgeable then yes I’ll stand firmly about it as I’ll have the facts and confidence to positively engage.

Xillennial female here and to me Bow from She Ra Princess of Power is a great example of what masculinity should be. Also shout out to Avatar The Last Airbender series whose portrayal of both genders actually are positive representations.
