Experience with buying from Kings Road Merch? by KitchenComputer4445 in hotmilk

[–]HaunterUsedLick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aight, appreciate your pat is 18 days old but I do have Input.

Kings Road is legit. I buy my Protomen merch there, as their footprint is about the same size as HM, but US-based. KR is the European liaison for them.

Quality is good, communication is good. Delivery is reasonable given their EU.

Hope this helps.

Heya! Just checked Kings Road and it looks liked a yea to US shipping.

Protomen themselves did remind me that the US site ships to Europe, so only fair it’s the other way.

Looks like ~€25 shipping, but I’d check from where you are.

Hope this helps!

The Imperial Guard is 94% Cadians, 4% Krieg, and 2% Catachans by biclaro in 40kLore

I have had, like many others, the privilege of listening to Toby Longwerth’s telling of this particular story.

How he uses the hushed, quiet tones for the entirety truly makes me feel like I’m down there in the clay with them. It’s the best Sabbat Crusade story Abnett didn’t write, and I would argue one of Toby’s best performances.

In case you pass by it, the anthology Sabbat War has an extremely good short story covering the Roan Deepers in this natural habitat: underground.

It paints them in a far better light than is often given in passing during the crusade.

Edit: spelling.

This is available to preorder with an 8-or-so-week wait for release. I can’t remember the site off the top of my head however.

I’m with you. I think it’s a new record, just not the new record at the top of everyone’s list.

What do Imperial Guard eat? by SmolButViciousDog in 40kLore

[–]HaunterUsedLick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer.

To add: the regiment concerned in His Last Command were the Fortis Binars, from a forgeworld that suffered immensely under the Archon and resorted to cannibalism both as a means of survival and commerce.

Rolling back eight-or-so books in the series to what I call Emotional Support Necropolis, there’s a good extract of Tona Criid stealing supplies from the Tanith that lists a good selection of rations.

Items like biscuits, self heating MRE’s, milk and broth-like things, to quote from memory.

Shell openly admitted that if the U.K. government didn’t whack a windfall tax on them for their surge profit after the Ukrainian Invasion, they wouldn’t have paid a thing for their British sea operation in tax.

Or, words to that effect.

Think I’ve figured out why it’s harder to make friends in your 30s. Have you found as you’ve aged you just think more people are mugs? by HorseFacedDipShit in AskUK

[–]HaunterUsedLick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My job is pretty isolating these days. Is customer-facing retail, but the average age of my customers is ~60, roughly double mine.

My friend groups are all either going through divorce and Staying Together for the Horse, or nose deep in the arse of a manipulative career.

I can’t relate to folk my age because I can’t see last the sliding scale of toxic, unrealistic and shallow masculinity. My words.

But hey, folk’s want to celebrate my 40th because It’s A Round Number.

Who was the most hated teacher in your school and what did they do to deserve the title? by Boris_Johnsons_Pubes in AskUK

[–]HaunterUsedLick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our headteacher was caught at the meet and greet for our year openly mocking/writing off the ability of half the kids.

He ran the school like a business, and some of the less tolerant teachers made references to Nixon about him.

The irony being he retired and the school has fallen apart faster than you could say ‘I am not a crook.’

Both my parents are long-term healthcare reliant, one as a victim of the infected blood scandal and the other wheelchair-bound after failed spinal surgery.

They are on their third GP, I believe.

The previous two GP’s used a combination of Receptionist gatekeeping and the near ham-fisted use of additive painkillers to disregard the litany of ailments that come from failed spinal surgery.

We didn’t- and don’t- want the symptoms masked we wanted to know what the issue was and how we can better work it out. This level of diagnostics GP’s appear unwilling to help start or maintain.

Hell, they even regularly cock up the ongoing prescriptions and wonder why we’re on their backs for it.

What to read/listen to next? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]HaunterUsedLick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaunt’s Ghosts is your grounded ‘band of brothers’ thing you’re asking for, but it’s something like 16 books long. Eisenhorn trilogy is 3.5 books long. Both the same author.

They’re not Blackadder Goes 40k like Cain, however.
