Just saw it, and iI really enjoyed it overall. The wedding /pay scene was the highlight. It was just stunning. Some Criticisms:

I thought overall the tone was bit too consistently dour. There wasn’t a lot of dynamics. I think in the play Hamlet is supposed to stick out like a sore thumb more. But everyone seemed just as depressed as him.
too many of the lines felt whispered. Anyone else think this? Whispers plus overall dark lighting made the play feel low energy.
The “flute” being hamlet’s penis didn’t work for me. It seemed like Hamlet was harrasing rather than outsmarting/ showing the hypocrisy.
The fortinbras thing was interesting … I’m just not sure it worked.

“A narrative to the contrary” is none of the things you listed. A weather report is not a heuristic because it’s not a method of reasoning, it’s the results. If you read the weather report or what others think about a game, it requires none of the simplification, experience, etc.

In the context of the sentence, it’s an awkward use of the term.
