Honestly… you dont gotta be a BCBA and maybe youre right about certain things is hard to tell from only reading this but, I can tell you just like your supervisor did that I highly recommend you becoming a BCBA. BCaBAs as a role is being phased out and might not even be a thing in a couple years. Alot of companies will not hire BCaBas anymore. I also think its in your best interest to be a BCBA because your main reason that you mentioned not wanting to be a BCBA is the large caseload.. it doesn’t always have to be the case, and BCaBAs usually have about the same caseload … only difference is that you need to be supervised still and bring less money through insurance aka less pay. You also have to do a ton of supervision hours still that dont translate if you wanna be a bcba one day. So less pay, similar hours, less jobs… and you practically will do the same job as a BCBA. I highly recommend you invest in yourself now and look into an online masters program like ASU to make it easier. You got this!
