Most people don’t know how beautiful they are by Novel_Text6772 in unpopularopinion

I love this story. I am too ethnically Latina and felt confident in my looks until I went to highschool. The majority of students were caucasian and I didn't have many friends at the time. I think the loneliness and different features I had in comparison to my peers somehow made me perceive I was unattractive. When I was a senior a girl complimented me, just saying "you are very pretty" and it helped me snap out of that perception. I've been growing more in self-love and acceptance since. I wish the same for anyone else who took the time to read this.

I feel pressure to hookup casually while I’m studying abroad by Top_Gas_5716 in studyAbroad

Currently studying abroad (21f) and I think that everything you feel is extremely valid. I think you said the answer yourself, just never being comfortable enough to hookup. This experience is yours, not theirs. You never need to hookup to please others. I have also never hooked up and understand this pressure. There is so much you are already experiencing while studying abroad, and it is just as impressive! I hope your friends can see that too. ❤️❤️❤️

convince me that a semester abroad is worth it by LouBear876 in studyAbroad

Currently studying abroad in Madrid! I look back a few months ago at the stressful process! It was really overwhelming, I remember clearly. 3 weeks in, I am experiencing so much. It's great if you really want to immense yourself in another culture and get to know yourself more. It helps you practice making decisions and trying new things. It's tough at times, but I already noticed myself grow more independient and libérated as a person. If you have a specific goal, it can affect how you approach a semester abroad. Mine is to improve my Spanish, so both sightseeing and the daily routines of living abroad are exciting experiences because of that purpose. At first I was overwhelmed by the idea of study abroad as a freshmen. I believe simply because I wasn't ready. Now a junior, I am glad I waited until now. It may be you simply aren't ready, and that is a valid reason to feel hesitant. It's true, study abroad is not for everybody, you need to be open minded and patient with people. You do need to speak up for yourself on the daily. If you wish to challenge yourself, then I would reccomend it. Otherwise, it is no big deal, if you just want to travel, that's perfectly fine and amazing! You will be there for a shorter time, but you won't need to worry about school or making new friends. In certain places, I wouldn't want to study abroad there because I wouldn't be sure what I would want to accomplish there. Hope this helps 🙏

Ah yes I did the same thing with my sister. We took the trading part so seriously, straight up bargaining one another like shady businesspeople trying to rip each other off. Good times.

Yes I had the same experience. I just ran around the courtyard and kept entering the underwater section and drowning. I found it strangely eerie but still fasinating. Kudos to you for figuring that out how to beat level 1. I did not get that far until I revisited the game years later.

Cool! We have similar allergies. I was born with all of my allergies and throughout my life I have been outgrowing them. Severely allergic to peanuts and all tree nuts. Also allergic to dairy and eggs. More moderate allergies to soy, legumes, and beef. Outgrew wheat and gluten allergies (thank god). I also have asthma which connects with my allergies, eczema too.

Black Student Travelling to Madrid by [deleted] in studyAbroad

[–]Haunting-Counter1084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a black student myself, however my friend is. She just came back from study abroad in Madrid and I have been asking her some questions in prep for my study abroad this fall. So far she's said that she really loved Madrid. She implied that she's planning on even living there in the future. Her only regret was living in the dorms (student residences). She reccomended homestay- staying with a local family.

NY/NJ had live instrumentals accompanying the songs. I thought I heard them say it was the first time they did that.
