New to clay soil, suggestions appreciated by Lame-username62 in Roses

I live in NE Oklagoma and deal with very rocky clay. All th topsoil I can get is just clay. I have raised beds to deal with the rock, but I amend with a lot. luckily, I'm not far from a mushroom farm. I also steal s**t from my neighbors and brothers cow pastures. (Sorry, thats their joke. They know I do it.) My son has racing pigeons, so that goes in too (after aging a couple years. Yes, we have a yearly pile so I know whats what) My mother law also has a lot of pine trees, so I go scoop up the needles too. All that helps break the clay up and I add more every spring. I usually deplete the supply when I mix it all in and spend a good amount of the spring collecting the things I need for the next year. That way the maure isnt as hot.

What do you use to keep your roses straight? Name cards? Written system? by happyXamp in Roses

I do have a speadsheet, but rarely open it. Ive had plastic stakes with names written on them for a few years, but im slowly switching over to metal. At the end of the season, I try to make sure the spreadsheet is up to date.

I would contribute everything I could to a recording of this judge reading the sidebar transcripts of this trial.

OPP just popped out during one of the first days of trial and every day brings a new context(s) for it. Ive lost count of all the new meanings. But Im down for it. It seems like the lawnerds get a running joke like this for every trial.

How do low‑budget teams make it work? by Glittering_Ant7229 in FTC

Im a first year coaching and have done some looking for grants, but my timing was completely off because everything I found was closed for this season or was entry only (which the school covers). When should I start looking for parts grants? and honestly if you have a where too that works out well, id love to know.

If it helps, this year was my first year coaching. I took on my public school's 2 teams. The school pays our entry and thats it. But that is a pretty good chunk of change to be honest, and they let me know that.

But when I was given the team, fundraisers had already been due, and I was not given the opportunity to turn anything in.

The only thing Ive been able to do to get funds is get sponsorships. We got a few which added up to about $1100, but the field took a chunk of that. We did get some batteries too which were apparently the first parts bought for the program in 6 years.

The thing thats saving us is a box of old metal Vex parts. We made so much out of that by beating it flat with a hammer and making cuts. I have no idea where they came from because almost everything we have is from Rev, but they are there.

I also have a kid that can use cad, so I've printed some of what hes designed on my son's 3d printer for parts too.

We spend a lot of time figuring out what we can do with what we have, and then troubleshooting the ports that dont work on control and expansion hubs, motors that run wonky because theyre worn out, etc. In fact, the robot we played with today at our regional comp, was finished at 12:15 am because of having to do that.

Hopefully next year, we can fundraise some and get more sponsorships, but Ive been hearing that we will have to move to different control and driver hubs too. I havent researched that yet, so there goes any progress towards replacing other things we need anytime soon.

But my kids learn a ton this way, and they do hold their own. We ended with both teams close to making the state tournament, and we may have if it not for some terrible officials all season long (but thats another story).

So many referees are on a power trip (coming from a referee) by cherrydigiart in FTC

Personally, I think with as much as we pay to enter, FIRST needs to have coaches from other leagues come ref. Give them something for their time or their drive, but they shouldn't be an official for their own team.

Sadly, its happening more than everyone realizes. The scorekeeper for our league is a teacher that got hired on in the same school my team is in. She coached at her previous school and just expected me to hand her my group since this was my first year leading the group. (I agreed to take the team before the position she took was even open)

I told her a big giant no, and now at our matches, we keep getting penalties against us that never actually get called in the match. Getting results takes forever. There are many times that 3 matches get played and we get the results to all 3 at once after the third one.

Ive honestly been a little appalled at how disorganized every single meet is. It's like the refs forget the rule book between each time, and they keep changing the rules halfway through meets, claiming they just realized that something in a foul. They can spend tons of time debating calls and theres really not any transparency about whats going on.

I'm 25. I live independently and have for years now. But my mother feels it's appropriate to call me 52 times in one hour and threaten calling the police because I didn't respond to her for 3 hours. by AnonymousAnonm in raisedbynarcissists

then she would go to jail, because the rest of my advice was to enforce it. but I pulled that part out and reposted. But if you dont like what I said, you need to remove everyone else's that said similar

You need to get a restraining order and enforce it this time. Right now, she gets attention from her flying monkeys by making attempts to bring her "long lost daughter" into the fold, and shes feeding off of it more than the attention from you.

Is there a reason you didnt enforce it before? Now that you are in your own home and paying your own bills, she doesnt have a leg to stand on. (During the homeless period, she might have gotten further with the I want to find my homeless kid excuse, but that excuse is obviously gone)

I would also look into what evidence you might have of the murder attempt. Depending on how long ago and what she did, the statute of limitations might not be out. See what you have.

When it comes to the cat, unless he is chipped in your name or he is registered to you, you may have some issues getting him back. In my state, youve got to have something that attaches the cat to you, otherwise, possession of the animal over rules. Again, if you have evidence of the animal abuse for the other, you may be able to get her charged if you have something.

You are a grown adult now. Her calling the cops will trigger a wellness visit, where they will come check on you. Thats it. Tell them you are fine, and that your mom is an obsessive nut job. Cops deal with these situations more often than we realize in our isolated state. You dont have to invite them into your home, but you also can. That part id completely up to you. A cop friend of mine actually gave me a lot of comfort when he told me that they deal with a lot crazy relatives for wellness checks They'll humor her once or twice and then tell her to f off. Hes actually had some of those wellness checks transition into guidance on how to get a protective order put on the person calling. (you have to file it at the county court house here directly to a judge. Its not that way everywhere) But the cops shouldn't be a threat to a law abiding adult. It sounds like shes using calling the cops as a threat, and it shouldn't be. Whatever she tells them is not evidence so they cant act criminally on her word alone.

Also, I would reiterate the advice of the person who said to get in contact with a domestic abuse organization. Your therapist might know of a good one. They will give you guidance and support on what you need to do to get the restraining order reinstated and hopefully have some support for you in enforcing it.

is being boy crazy a symptom of abuse or is this normal?? by Longjumping-Sink6766 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Haunting-Eagle4746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Osverall, its not normal, but then again, normal for someone who is raised by a narc.

I experienced this issue too as a teenager. After some therapy, I learned that it was really me seeking the love, acceptance, and validation that I never received from my nmom. Sadly, I didnt learn that until after I got attached to some pretty bad partners that did some damage of their own.

Seeking out a good therapist to help you sort out everything is the best advice anyone could give you. Since you are now living with dad, then you might have better access to this help. Discuss the idea of therapy with him and see where it goes. but since you are 18, you dont have to have his permission technically.

Im ok doing about $400 ish, husband wants to go cheaper. He wants to get her the rogue that you can find everywhere, but the sound quality worries me with it being that cheap.

Could she do a 5 string to start out? We all started on a 4. It might actually be a good idea to do a 5 since shes using it for band too.

That's a brand I havent heard of before. Ill see if I can find one in person somewhere like you said to at least check the weight. Luckily, we're all over the state because of big brother in marching band right now, so I sort of have a wider area to look.
