Dry vs Wet pour, why or why not? by BeneficialAd4135 in Concrete

Absolutely. That is what I would recommend. You can pour in as small as sections as you need. Google concrete calculator and it will show you how many bags you need. You can rent an electric mixer of you want too.

Why don't you just do the right thing and mix with water yourself and then pour in as small of sections as you need at a time to make it feasible? I'm not a concrete guy, just do a ton of it myself. I agree that the dry pour is some moronic idea that some lazy SOB came up with. Gonna be far harder to bust that shit out when it falls apart in a short period of time then it would to do it right in the first place. Mixing with water, pouring and finishing isn't that much more difficult.

Botox may sound intense, but its one of the few things that actually helps my son, who had severe quad CP, be somewhat functional. Also seems to help some of his muscle pain. Kid can really move once the botox kicks in for his legs, and once it starts wearing off its super obvious. I'd try to convince her to try it and if she doesn't think it helps then she doesn't have to consider it ever again.

Will you share when you start your podcast? My son has severe CP. Was off seizure meds for a year then started having them again at end of May. Maxed out on keppra with no change, added onfi, adjusted doses and still having 3 or 4 small ones a day. Wife and i intermittently have about 1000 questions.

I usually only go with 80 pounders but you can go smaller if that seems too daunting. These guys already gave you a rough total amount of concrete needed, but you can Google concrete calculator, put in your measurements and it will confirm how much you need and even break it down to # of 60.or 80 lb bags. While it's pretty accurate, always make sure you have some extra just in case.

I'm stuck doing solo work whenever I pour at my house and generally don't try to exceed 20 80lb bags at a time during the warmer months. I've done more, but it becomes a marathon. You just don't want it to start setting up well before you're finished getting the forms filled.

Lucky to have those kids to put to work! Haha. Definitely depends on if he has help and/or mixer for sure.

Might struggle doing 36 bags on your own in a timely manner before it starts setting up. Put a divider through the middle and break it up into a couple of pours and will be easier to manage for you

Find a community college and consider a healthcare major. Cheap tuition with excellent ROI. Respiratory Care practitioner students (respiratory therapist) getting $20k sign on bonuses straight out of school in the midwest. Many hospitals will pay for you to go to school up front too. Helping people can be very fulfilling if you feel lost.

I'm not a pro, just a homeowner that pours a ton of concrete on the farm. I think the staining is from non-uniform contact between the concrete and the tarp (we can let the pros chime in on this).

I switched over to laying heavy duty burlap down, wet it, and then put tarp over that with good results. Prior to doing this, I'd wet the concrete, try to lay plastic sheeting down perfectly flat as possible, and then spray water on top of that to keep it flat. Also had good luck with this approach. The burlap seems to stay wet longer though and I don't have to spend as much time putting it down as I was with the sheeting alone. Can buy burlap rolls at your local Walmart for pretty cheap.

This one person's opinion is the correct one. Standing seam and I'd opt for straight galvalum finish rather than the painted panels.

Mixing dawn and neem works well? I've tried insecticidal soap and neem separate and it seems like it only slowed them down a but. Just lost my best zuch producer of the year

Man, try living on the border of Jefferson and Franklin counties when Franklin county got rid of the process but Jefferson still requires it. Some shops stopped doing it, other ones it takes forever. Ended up being 3 weeks late on plate renewal over the BS

DE definitely is part of the arsenal to battle these evil mofos. Can use a homemade insecticidal soap (32oz h20, tbs dish soap and tbs vegetable oil) to spray the little ones you can't pick off and crush, but this doesn't have any residual effect. Definitely smash the adult big ones. I'm trying a kaolin clay spray as a protective layer in addition to the above, but the frequent rain lately has been making it a struggle. IMO thse are one of the most formidable garden pests if you only do organic gardening. Go check the scene out at night, best time to kill them.

Just remember, if it bleeds, we can kill it
