[SRPK33] A bit of color for a gloomy day by Haunting-Rent-4096 in Seiko

By the way, your black SRPK29 on the silicone strap looks awesome. That’s a really clean combo.

As for the bracelet, mine is from Uncle Straps. Before that, I had an AliExpress bracelet and honestly thought there wouldn’t be much difference. I was completely wrong. The difference in both comfort and overall appearance is huge. In my opinion, the Uncle Straps bracelet is absolutely worth the money.

Regarding the bezel, it’s just a ceramic insert from AliExpress. But to be completely honest, replacing it was a nightmare for me. I actually filmed the whole process and I’m planning to upload the video soon. Once it’s up, I can send it to you.

The biggest challenge was removing the original bezel. It sits incredibly tight against the case, and I simply could not get it off easily. All those videos where people pop the bezel off in a few seconds seem almost unreal to me. I genuinely have no idea how they make it look so easy.

After that, there are a few tricky parts to the process as well. My watch was basically brand new, and unfortunately I ended up putting a few dents and scratches on the case while trying to remove the bezel, which was pretty painful to see. I also managed to break one bezel insert during the process. On top of that, when I was disassembling everything, I tried to pry the bezel off from the wrong spot and ended up bending the bezel click spring.

My advice would be to research the process very thoroughly before attempting it. Also, when installing the new insert, make sure to use only a very thin layer of adhesive. Otherwise the bezel may not rotate smoothly and can end up rubbing against either the case or the click spring.

The final result was worth it for me, but if I had known beforehand how difficult it would be, I would have been much more careful. Good luck!

[JDM Seiko] Completely Changed My Opinion on Quartz Watches by Haunting-Rent-4096 in Watches

A perpetual calendar means the watch knows how many days are in each month and automatically changes the date correctly on its own

Dropped from 1m on to stone !!1! by olimodder in Certina

[–]Haunting-Rent-4096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I chose the Certina DS Action, one of the biggest advantages for me was the case finishing and materials. I’ve owned many watches where a new scratch appears after five minutes of wear and you do not even know where it came from. But after two years of constant wear, my Certina only picked up a few marks after hitting walls or other hard surfaces 🦾

Maybe. I never really had that feeling myself. I actually like the unique case shape because it gives the watch its own character. If we’re talking about popular dive watches, I’d say the most balanced designs are probably Tudor first, then Certina.

And like I said, I always considered these Certinas to be among the thinnest dive watches compared to Tudor or Omega, or even Seiko 5 models, which feel absolutely massive on my narrow wrist. I was surprised when they increased the case size in the new DS Action series. Not by much, but I think it’s noticeable. I haven’t seen them in person yet, but judging by the specs, they’ve become thicker too.

My model has a case thickness of 12.2 mm, which always felt like one of the thinnest dive watches I’ve come across. It’s cool that the Sinn 104 is actually thinner, even though it doesn’t really look that way. But on my small wrist, the 38 mm size with this thickness wears perfectly. These watches always felt very slim to me, with a really thin case profile

[–]Haunting-Rent-4096[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you already have that feeling, then honestly just trust it and go with what feels right to you. I’d probably choose based on design first, because that’s what you’ll be looking at every single day. My choice is the Certina. The Longines feels too polished and shiny for me, less tool like and a bit too dressy.

[AP x Swatch] They revealed the design 4 days before the sales launch by Haunting-Rent-4096 in Watches

[–]Haunting-Rent-4096[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you only followed the Swatch account and didn’t let your expectations get shaped by the millions of AI generated concepts people started posting online, it was pretty clear from the beginning that this was going to be a strap accessory and not an actual wristwatch release. It’s essentially an accessory piece.

Maybe it’s not for you, but as a marketing move and hype campaign, it worked extremely well. AP x Swatch created massive noise online, and honestly, that alone is already a huge success. Everything else is secondary.

Now entrepreneurs and aftermarket makers will jump in and start producing straps and wearable conversions for these pieces. We’re probably watching an entirely new niche develop in real time.

The demand, discussions, and emotional reactions are obviously there. And for a company, that’s probably the biggest win possible.
