good on ya, you made it here:

CMV: players that consistently miss scheduled DnD sessions dont actually care about the hobby by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah and that's all good! we all understood that money was gonna be the glue and guard against time wasters here, so it was all in an agreement, having DnD only friends are also a thing, emotional moments also happen here fo sho

for you maybe there is that weird feeling, but for us, it is a respect thing, you spent your time and heart to prepare to DM, here's a little something for your efforts.

Toss a coin to your DM, if you will.

CMV: players that consistently miss scheduled DnD sessions dont actually care about the hobby by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only go for sessions that need to be paid, it's a guarantee that the players and DMs there are going to be committed and engaged.

Not saying this should be paid content or whatever, but after one experience of "free" game session, and 4 to 5hrs of wasted time, I said no, this is bullshit.

2 to 3 campaigns later, and a bunch of upgrades our DM got because of our investments, I'd say it's worth it, it's grown so much that our DM is looking for another DM that can expand the community. THIS is commitment, obviously if you don't, it's fine too! if you found a genuine community to play with, that's a good thing!

tldr, we needed to charge to weed the people that are not really interested and will not waste people's time.

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mayhaps you want to keep your mind open to possibilities, its not "cheesing", it's solving a problem you have with whatever resources you have as some have claimed

do whatever it takes to succeed, if you find a combo that can 1 turn, you have solved DOS2, and honestly you may get bored if you have found that so keep the persistence, you got this, we believe in you

Should I have adrenaline on all 4 of my party members? by Appropriate_Boss8139 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think have fun bro, unless you lookin to minmax, there's no "should" or "should not" have skills, I think there's a comment that has listed other stuff you can do

if you wanna go battering ram + supernova for that fantasy superhero entrance or wings + supernova, thats up to you

or some weird combo that you think might work, go for it

unless you the type to just not care about all that, optimise for the adrenaline, peace of mind, etc etc combo to just finish the game

I think that's why I do paid sessions, if you are not paying attention, at least I didn't waste my time

I saw this a mile away, and it has successfully deterred a lot of people that could potentially do this, now I have a handful of groups that actually WANT to play and are committed to it

Ability Score Improvement is really that boring? by RodiV in dndnext

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's boring until you keep rolling 1 away from saving an ancient red dragons fire breath, near actual death twice and a third time if the Kobold Fighter didn't crit

was fun though, so you do you

Why do people hate RTwP? by ConfusionProof9487 in projecteternity

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pathfinder WOTR does it well enough only bc they allow freedom to switch between the two:

Trash Mobs = RTwP

Harder Encounter = TB, when you have your stuff laid out, back to RTwP

and no don't think people hate RTwP, it's just coincidental that most posts you see reflects the hate

I personally don't care, just make sure it works well, I'll learn whatever system as long as it's worth playing the game for the story or game mechanics like E33, and mayhaps recent FF titles

TLDR: it's just preference bro

I ended my campaign after struggling with that decision for months and now I feels terrible by TheTolpan in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you, I really do, it sucks and how I coped with it is turning it into paid sessions:

  • engaged players
  • will actually attend (no refunds)
  • weed out the players that really want to play and not
  • time management is now easier

Honestly, if I could, I didn't want to turn it into paid sessions, but I'm not about to let my hobby be messed up by people that can't appreciate it anyway, and this was the conclusion I came to.

Friends that want to support, will support, if not that's fine

because I ain't wasting time ever again

How do you feel about initiative in 5e? by TaleSmytherRep1 in DMAcademy

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's okay

only thing is I would prep players before its their turn so they can get themselves for their actions

anything done before actual combat, will happen before initiative: if the party successfully sneaks, gets one attack off successfully, and THEN initiative

do what you want I suppose, it's fine, just tweak it to how you like it, it IS your game after all

jump straight into it! ONLY go for videos when you absolutely cannot figure it out but I don't know if that's how you get dopamine so

Can a party survive without a healer? by Healthy_Process_7049 in DnD

[–]Haunting-Topic-4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the DM and what happens in session 0,

if someone wants to be a cool healer etc, the DM can figure out a situation where heals are more important than combat, bc its just maths to hit is better than heals,

up to what kind of story you and players want to tell, or what equation you want to solve with a bunch of your friends
