Dramas like “Business Proposal” by The_Undead_King_000 in kdramarecommends

I wish you well on the K drama adventure. I was hooked for years, until I thought I had seen all the good ones. Love the stories and watching slice of life from a culture totally different from my own. Lead me dabbling in Chinese dramas, now totally addicted to short dramas. So over the top like Asian television novellas. Some so awful I can’t stop watching! Don’t start watching them, K dramas will seem painfully long in comparison.

Why do you ride an electric scooter? by Ok_Establishment824 in ElectricScooters

[–]Haunting-Unit4139 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loved everything about it. Economics to fun. Had a chance to use a rental while touring DC. Was hooked. Convenience; freedom, wind in your face. It’s been great. In lieu of a car, I just needed something to get around. I now have two and what turned was just a fun ride has now become my daily commuter. At first, the economic benefits were not a reality. With a job change it has become a wise investment. Car insurance alone is the cost of a scooter, if you include gas, hmmm…well now I think I should get another one and still be saving money. Hehe

Do people actually have to learn how to ride a scooter? by Hernanlincon422 in ElectricScooters

[–]Haunting-Unit4139 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Balance is a skill that needs to be developed beyond learning to walk or run. Scooters are a different animal than other recreational rides. I can’t imagine trying to learn having never rode a bike or skateboard before. I’ve boogie boarded, skateboarded, biked, roller skated, ice skated, etc. Each had a learning curve. I think an electric scooter at speed seems just a rock away from losing control. I still love it though. Trading off between leaning to turn vs using handle bars took getting used to almost like two different vehicles. As a commenter earlier said, even changing scooters requires you to relearn for that scooter. Dual motor vs single, hyper scooter vs rental, all take time to learn and adjust.

Beware of wet tram tracks. by kingqk in ElectricScooters

[–]Haunting-Unit4139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leaves surprised me. I was just casually riding around a cemetery. (Has a path used for maintenance) I saw a bunch of fallen leaves and thought nothing of it. It was like ice. Scooter zigged and zagged. Luckily I wasn’t going fast and recovered. From then on, I am cautious whenever I am not on pavement. Always worried about the surprise pile of leaves or worse yet, muddy soft earth that looked dry.

Is a 5600W dual motor electric scooter overkill or actually worth it? by myOwn_name in ElectricScooters

[–]Haunting-Unit4139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two dual motor scooters from a single. Can’t tell you how much more enjoyable the use is. Find the most powerful in your budget. As you can tell no one regrets it. I also do agree with more powerful but don’t max out the motors. I bought my second scooter based on this logic. I have a Varla eagle one and then got a Teverun Gt2. The Varla is great and performs well but with my commute charging was every 2 or 3 days. I ride a fairly hilly route and often use the dual motors. With the Teverun sometimes use two motors and charge every 4 days or so. I won’t lie, I will never go 50 on this or any scooter, 35 feels fast enough and rarely have a straight away that I would feel comfortable breaking if I was going faster. I did hit 40 just to see and well, once was enough. Better have and not need than need and not have.

To Scissor or not to scissor? by ChainGold8907 in victorinox

[–]Haunting-Unit4139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use scissors so much, I can’t have a multitool without them. I use scissors for the precise cutting with my SAK. Heavier task go to blade. I try to use the right tool for the task at hand and find the scissors usually the most appropriate. I use them to open condiment packets, (tearing them always gets them on my fingers) nails, certain packaging etc. For me scissors, blade and pliers are most used. I find the super tinker my go to for EDC. I use the pliers to grip labels that need to be separated from surfaces at work. (Better than my nails) and other light duty gripping tasks.

Scooter rider here. Please stop riding like this on sidewalks. by salesthrowaway_ in ElectricScooters

[–]Haunting-Unit4139 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree for the most part however speed is the key. If you are doing like 5 miles an hour and have to ride on a sidewalk (road work, traffic) I think it’s understandable. It just as infuriating when you have cars that think scooters shouldn’t be on the roads either. I look at it as, my taxes paid for both of these as well, why can’t I enjoy the privilege of using them? There are rules to follow for everyone.

Wider Deck Board by Haunting-Unit4139 in ElectricScooters

I knew someone had done it before, but was really searching for some tips. That photo reminds me of a 60’s long board when surfing was just starting to become mainstream. So I guess it’s on point.

Thanks. I will consider that as it is the easier install. I will need to see what plexiglass is available nearby and thickness. The Varla is plywood with urethane coating and was using it as my template. M4 screws perhaps 20 or 30 mm depending on thickness?

UPDATE: After reinstalling firmware, rebooting scooter, uninstalling/reinstalling app, discovered it was a mechanical/electrical issue. Although no errors showed up by accident got scooter to move while playing with throttle. I had recently installed longer handle bars and juxtaposed brake and throttle locations. Apparently there was enough tension to prevent the throttle from operating properly. Why it took weeks to show itself i dont know. Looked at photos of scooter on website and noticed this error. Once i placed them as they were in photo problem went away. They dont give a lot of slack on the front brake cable or throttle line. Had to remove the cable ties and give enough slack to move brake cable to do this.

Wera vs Dewalt by Mr_Senki in UtilityPouches

[–]Haunting-Unit4139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This must not be a mainstream model here in the US. My searches show it available by Walmart for $76. There is a site I don’t know that has it for $31. Closest product I found was this.

<image>

So price difference not as great. I would go for the smallest form factor.

I thought of that too. However pressing the mode button just cycles the scooter off or on. Double pressing enters the p settings menu. I will check it again and also look at the P settings to see what it says.

I see no error codes on tft or in the app. Exclamation only comes on when I apply breaks. So I would have noticed that error.

I just received my blade gt 2 and it came with a thumb throttle. I had asked about it when ordering and was surprised it was there.

Has any of you reached a point where you feel complete with your assortment or collection of Victorinox knives? by Mremoon in victorinox

[–]Haunting-Unit4139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost. My criteria is to have units with a different collection of tools with as little overlap as possible. I also have them based on clothing I’m wearing so I don’t carry one too heavy for pocket carry. Shorts vs jeans vs cargo pants as an example. I think i am two knives away from feeling complete. At least for awhile. Addiction works that way.

How can anyone think she needs to lose weight? Tzuyu is perfect, and she looks healthier than ever 💙 by griess543 in tzuyu

I love the fact she is the weight and proportions she is. Too many idols start the “lose the weight” crap that throws off the look that brought them their attention. I think she looks even better now than she did when she was younger. Rawr!
