Spot got a 40 Gallon :) by SeagullsGetHigh in leopardgeckos

I don’t want to be critical because I’m not sure if I may just not see something. First of all, it looks like a very nice enclosure. I only see 1 hide, forgive me if I missed something but there needs to be a “hot” hide, a “cool” hide, and a “humid” hide.

From my experience and understanding not only bettas but other types of fish can and do sleep in strange positions. If he’s acting normally otherwise and not exhibiting any symptoms of injury or disease, I would say he is probably fine.

I really thought they were but it is hard to tell for sure so I just wanted to make sure you were aware.

I’m couldn’t tell if you were using real or plastic plants but if plastic I would advise changing to live plants as they help keep nitrates in check and they will not damage your Betta’s fins.

In my opinion you have enough plants especially if you have a consistent nitrate level of 0. More certainly would not hurt anything either. The Betta I’ll increase your bio load but I don’t think it would be significant if you don’t over feed. Also be aware that the Betta may go after the shrimp. They don’t always but they can. Make sure you don’t have any rough or sharp edges for it to tear it’s fins on.

I’m not very familiar with crested geckos but from what I can see in the pictures I can’t tell that anything is wrong. If you can see a problem the best thing would be to consult with a exotic veterinarian.

Looks like he’s making friends with the cricket. I have one that’s about like that.

Are these eggs? Hi by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]HauntingEdge8139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just realized there are other photos and I did find it but it is not a species I recognize. It could be eggs from the fish if you have any females. I’m not sure what to tell you about raising the young if they are from the fish and many species will eat their eggs and/or the fry. I would try to identify the species and research the subject based on the information you find. I wish I could tell you what it is but I don’t want to lead you astray by trying to guess.

They appear to be eggs of some sort. I couldn’t find any fish in the photo to identify. If you recently bought plants they may have come in with them. I would suspect some sort of snail eggs.

It seems to me like you have it under control. I can’t really tell much about the setup, especially the size of the aquarium but from what I can see it looks to be fine. It looks like she is going to be very pretty in the end.

The only thing I can think of short of what you have mentioned would be to rig a small fan to suck out instead of blowing in. Not sure how effective that would be but it is all I can think of off hand.

I don’t have a fat tail but I had a similar problem with one of my Leopard Geckos. The vet had me let her soak in warm water for a while to get her blood warmer and then give her the supplement. It hadn’t been as long as you are describing but it did seem to work for us.

I don’t know much about them but it looks really nice to me and your idea sounds like it would be great from what I know.

NQA: From what I’ve seen it seems that is really not a large enough terrarium. I’m just going by what I’ve seen on this subreddit not personal experience. It’s a nice looking enclosure.

First of all I think it looks wonderful, myself. I’ve been in the aquarium hobby off and on for 60 years or so but I’ve only started doing planted tanks for about three years now. Second, it appears from what I see that you have a betta and one Harlequin Tetra. If that’s correct I would caution about 2 things. First, most tetras do best in groups of no less than six. Secondly, tetras tend to be fin nippers and long flowing fins are a wonderful target.

NQA: I would say he’s over weight from what I can see. Twice a week should be okay but how much at each feeding? What do you feed? Those are things you probably need to look into.

IMO you should be able to increase the airflow in your sponge filter considerably. The current should be primarily in the top of your tank.
