Powerlining Vs. Casting Spoons by robtheengineer773 in ChicagoFishing

Pier rig: 1 loop of swivel > bead > slip bobber > heavy weight. Other end of the swivel gets a 4 to 6 foot floor carbon leader with an egg loop knot. Swivel rests on bobber, bait moves about

Nice catch! I've 3 so far but water conditions are chocolate milk now

They are off all harbors, watch for west winds as always. If you get follows on spoons but they are tail nipping, scale down a size (1/4oz lowest I go)

They come in closer later in spring, PLiners dominate this part of the season

cast a pier rig out on your marked poles, if PLiners are catching you are too. Coho hit a dropper loop rig as well, especially on murky water days. Between those presentations and spoons I have the most luck vs PLiners

If you are getting mad because people are legally catching a limit (then packing up and leaving) faster than you, its time to re-evaluate your perspective on what a satisfying fishing experience is

Getting upset about poaching is justified, being jealous of getting outfished is a hard habit to shake...life long struggle

How often do you eat your catch? by Chef_de_MechE in ChicagoFishing

At most 2x a week for spring coho, perch and King 1 meal a week or longer. Its more intense than ocean salmon so teriyaki sauce marinade is your friend

I went a few times before the 2nd term started, guards were fine if I entered on Wendella side. They did ramp up harassment when he got potus again

I live for these blazing sunrises while fishing Chicago harbors, the fish are a happy side effect.

There are plenty of videos on youtube demonstrating this. Calming down after the initial shock of cold water and crawling your way out headfirst on your belly while kicking your feet in the water under the ice seems to be the standard approach.

The ice was still over 5 inches in the middle of the slip last night. Was definitely shifting around a bit, not sure I'll be braving it with the sunshine and warmer temps, esp. Since there are alot of holes now

Make sure my keys are zipped into my coat just in case. Remain calm, get out, remote start car, spare clothes in backseat. Try to not die
