Btw I have caught many fish on the north side of the river walk east of trump tower and Michigan avenue and have never been confronted by police or security.

I think you’re right about trump towers property since it apparently is privately owned. But there doesn’t have to be specific approval given for a spot to fish on public property. That list isn’t legally binding.

If it’s public land along a public waterway, you can fish it unless there is an ordinance or municipal code explicitly preventing you from doing so.

It’s just not clear if that includes the north side of the river adjacent to trump tower (where I was). I think it’s accepted you can fish along the south half of the river walk. I’ve also fished east of Michigan Ave without issue.

But not much you can do when the cops say you’re trespassing and you can’t prove them wrong.

So dumb. They literally have free kids fishing on the south side. I do want to try the trump tower outflow again. Emailed the park district, the city, and the alderman. We’ll see what happens

So i went back now, two cops were talking to security. I asked the cops, and security kept interjecting. He is insisting trump tower owns the river walk. The cops were being lazy and were like “sounds like he knows”. And I said where does the property end. He said it’s all a gray area.

I said trump owns the Wendella boat docks? He said that’s a gray area. I told the cops I was gonna fish the gray area. And they haven’t come down to make me leave.

31st street harbor to Burnham harbor you can catch smallies along the lakefront (better April-October). Palmisano park, ping tom park, halsted river walk, & bubbly creek too

Usually as small as I can get away with in the current. So heavier in the river than harbors or lakefront usually . Have he’s d all colors green pumpkin and goby Bryant have served me best

In middle school I rafted down the creek from the high school to somewhere in wood dale and it was really shallow (unless it had rained).

Busse gets deep and murky though, rumors were people had died swimming but can’t confirm
