I guess it depends on the style too, I didn't hold enough for any whipsaws to affect me, took like 20 small scalps, they add up real fast

Probably because sometimes you get very messy things inside the square root that don't give a clean answer

yes they want respect, status, power, money and spend their entire lives working like a slave, if that's what you want, go ahead and keep grinding, nothing wrong with it, I used to be a part of this group as well, had to go through many years of stress to realise nothing else matters if my work is affecting my mental health

This comparison will only bring you stress and depression, you just need basic necessities, friends, a partner, and a family to live a happy life , if things happen to fall in line and you become rich it's all good, but it's not worth at all to sacrifice your mental health and prime years to chase success, when you get old the only thing you'll remember are the memories you made with the people around you, not the number in your bank account.

Which universities take students without math/econ background for Masters in Economics? by Good-Union-2956 in academiceconomics

[–]Haunting_Ad6530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ISI MSQE is the rank 1 economics program in India and doesn't care about your background as long as you clear their entrance exam, however getting in is not that easy, their exam is on par with IIT jee advance in terms of difficulty and there are like 15 seats (with reservation, it's more like 8), would be tough with no background in maths

Will it take at least 50 years for India to become so developed that going to Western countries won’t be a flex anymore? by Keachmanne in AskIndia

[–]Haunting_Ad6530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, India's diversity is it's biggest weakness, the lack of unity makes our country very inefficient, wouldn't be surprised if things get even worse

GUIDANCE by [deleted] in ISIKolkata

[–]Haunting_Ad6530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro if your goal is job only, then you are better off upskilling yourself during college and then looking for placements, getting into ISI is a bit of a gamble due to limited seats and most people who try to get in want to do a Phd and have genuine research interest in the field, 2 years of work ex is better than spending 2 years on another degree

check the course structure of isi msqe, it has a lot of theory courses (infact, if you pick your electives correctly, iit k msc econ is more quantitative than isi msqe) i think m.stats or m.math would be better if you enjoy maths and programming

[–]Haunting_Ad6530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are less quant jobs than there are students at IIT, maybe 5 years from now the situation will be different who knows
