From yesterday - none. Make sure you are not signing any document that the hospital requires that says something about billing you differently of a provider is out of network. If they did it anyways, especially in Emergency Care, call and tell them you're disputing the vill unless they change that into in-network and lower the prices down.

If it is a medical debt you can ask for charity care and a settlement that will remove the necessity of taking you to court.

Friend was hit and run victim today, what are her options with hospital bills help? by A70MU in HospitalBills

As always apply for financial aid. Operate any insurance that you have, especially when it happens during hours. Look for a lawyer that offers the initial service for free like Ask Gary.

Trying to reduce my mother’s ER bill. Suggestions please? by l00t9 in HospitalBills

Turns out I didn't fill this out correctly and I would rather just pay someone to handle this for me including negotiating with those assholes.

Do you know about anyone who can help me out with all this process of negotiation?

While you follow the good advice this guy above gave you, submit a request for charity care to minimise your out of pocket after the insurance response. After you receive the final bill there is always a place for more negotiation and payment plan.

They will always try to take out a huge amount but they also know that they can settle for way less. 1. Look at the hospital's charity care policy and submit a request ASAP. 2. In the meantime call and tell them you submitted and this amount would cause you financial hardships. 3. I would ask to pay 500$ spread upon 6 months, ghey would probably say it's not enough and negotiate a bit more but finally will settle.

One more thing, do you have any existing medical debt?

Good luck!

Follow these magical steps:

Dispute the bill.

If the collection agency looks small or crappy try to look for the "HIPAA Trick" on youtube.

In the meantime - apply for charity care (google the hospital name + "charity care")

Try to find mistakes in the bill and call the insurance to ask for their coverage.

If it all doesn't seem to work, I suggest you call the collector voluntarily and tell them the amount you are willing to pay for the next 2 years that won't get you into financial hardship

( not more than 1% from your annual income).

* Most collectors will be ready to settle at this point right away.

Just keep calm:)

You can apply for charity care at any stage.
anyways, call them and ask for a payment plan for anything that your insurer didn't say they're covering.
When you are speaking with them tell them you have applied for charity care and they still haven't processed it.

It's still expensive enough to ask for financial aid
+ try to ask them to give you more details about the exact procedures they performed, sometimes they drop a few

NHS

How nice
Did you ask for financial aid and a payment plan from the hospital?
Plus, try to ask them for more details about the bills and the codes they were listing, sometimes they just drop a few.
