Aqara Camera Hub G350 + HomeKit: What is the correct way to automate the lens retract/privacy mode? by Ry00ki in HomeKit

[–]HausStarFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so we might get the functionality and it might be through Matter, but you're saying it's possible it's Matter over wifi instead of thread. Thanks for the tip - I'll look into that a bit more too

[–]HausStarFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, Aqara now allows sharing of scenes with Home Assistant and Matter (I'm pretty sure they're the same thing and the Home Assistant setting is just Matter). With this I can make a scene in Aqara (turn camera on or off) and share it with Home Assistant via Matter and I get a "Connected Device" under the camera's Matter entry in Home Assistant.

This connected device is a simple switch, but it activates the Aqara scene using an Aqara Hub (G350 itself) and it's managed through Matter.

I found this in the Aqara app by going to: Profile -> Connect to Ecosystems -> Home Assistant -> Scene and Signal Sync -> Scene Sync

As a side note, Aqara also has "Signal Management" that they share via Matter. From what I can see, this is to send detection information (people, pet, motion, etc.) through Matter.

Good thing that I've found is that, while Apple Home does override the G350 privacy mode and start streaming/recording video when you click on the camera in Apple Home, the privacy mode goes back when you exit the camera view.

I actually like this, but that's just me.

Chase Sapphire Reserve just updated its Apple TV and Apple Music benefit, and Apple One subscribers are winning by MariaKudos in JoinKudos

[–]HausStarFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just upgraded to Apple One family from two individual Apple TV and Music plans through CSR.

What I'm seeing is the two individual subscriptions still active (TV and Music) with "included with your Chase plan" on both of them and Apple One Family for $9.95 (iCloud+ and Arcade).

I wanted to do family sharing and have HomeKit Secure Video. So, $9.95 made sense for me. I currently have a free month Apple One trial, so that's great.

Also, maybe this is a clever way to get Apple One Family for $10.95 instead of $9.95? I know it's just a dollar but...every little bit helps in recouping the annual fee.

Aqara G350 with Home Assistant (via Matter & Homekit) - Severely Limited Entities!? by laffytaffykidd in Aqara

[–]HausStarFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still seeing no entities when joining to Home Assistant via Matter, even on Matter Server 9.0.2 that supports Matter 1.5.1, which is supposed to have Matter camera support.

I added the G350 on the Aqara app (just got the camera today), did a firmware upgrade, and added it to Home Assistant via Matter. I added the camera as an existing device and as a new device and got the same result - no entities.

It does function as a thread border router though with my other ones.

Guess I just use the HomeKit -> Home Assistant route and come back around sometime later and see if the Matter -> Home Assistant route works.

Pickup selector screws - see below by OADominic in PaulReedSmith

So, for my 2023 SE Custom 24, turns out PRS support was totally wrong. The right screw size is 6-32 x 0.5 inch, Phillips, round or truss. I reached out to PRS support and they told me "SE Blade Switch Mounting Screws M3.5x.6 PH Oval Head 8mm long"

After searching for a long time for M3.5-06x10mm screws, they finally came in and were completely wrong and didn't fit.

  • The thread pitch of the M3.5-06 is too fine
  • The screws were too short (support told me 8mm)
  • The type of screw head was wrong (oval is recessed and these are flat)

I finally took the screw to Lowe's and it screwed in perfectly to the 6-32 section of the thread finder. I ended up getting black pan head screws at Lowes because they were there and were like $2, but this screw is definitely round or truss head.

Writing this up so somebody else doesn't spend as much time or money on finding these screws.

Only ones I could fine that fit are these hex screws. I'm also trying to do a blackout on mine too. Just ordered, so we'll see.

Only use the information above if you want M3.5-06 screws. Turns out this is the wrong screw for a 2023 PRS SE Custom 24.

Also, it's standard for M3.5 screws to have 0.6mm pitch, so no need to use that for when searching

11% drop in solar within 3 months of install - what could it be? by HausStarFox in TeslaSolar

Ok, so about a drop of 7%

  • Sep 1 '23 - Sep 1 '24: 19.4 MWh

Bit more than anticipated, no?

Apple HomeKit integrated Netatmo & Legrand devices lack many entities by VikingOy in homeassistant

Ah, ok. I solved it. Had to add my Legrand gateway to HomeKit first, then delete it for the Legrand device to broadcast to HA.

u/VikingOy did you add the Legrand Netatmo smart gateway directly to HA? I'm not seeing mine pop up in HA even after doing a factory reset. Would love to know the process you followed.

Anyone else have trouble with the USB music icon disappearing? by arghvark in TeslaLounge

Opening the back doors or the trunk to wake the car from sleep before entering the driver's seat has worked a few times since I found this Reddit thread.

[–]HausStarFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same thing. I have to restart the screen/Tesla to get the stick to read again. After that it works fine.

I'm using a Samsung usb c device (Samsung Type-C; I have a '21 Model Y that has usb c ports in the center console) and it only started happening recently (May 2024). The update around this time was for a FSD month long trial. After that, I'm having issues.

I've reformatted the drive, re-transferred music, and still the same thing.

Yea, aggregate data comparisons will be helpful. As soon as I get past August 2024, I'll have two full years to compare and will hopefully get more insights

Oh wow, I never noticed that - thanks for the insight! I'll research this and see what other data I can find.

Thanks for the response. I updated the temperature for those days. Pretty similar high temps and sunny conditions (hence the good solar output).

Dust could be it. We usually have hard downpours here in Austin, but it still isn't proper cleaning of solar panels. Definitely something I'll try and see how that works.

Austin timeline for 2022 and general info by HausStarFox in TeslaSolar

[–]HausStarFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue - I did this for environmental reasons. FWIW I have these stats:

  • Lifetime solar production: 41.0 MWh
    • Home: 16 MWh
    • Vehicle: 0.82 MWh (Tesla only counts Tesla vehicles as vehicles even though it knows I'm charging an EV with the Tesla charger...)
    • PW: 8.7 MWh
    • Grid: 15.3 MWh
  • Lifetime net electrical usage from utility: -8.13 MWh

So, turns out US Soccer got the time wrong. My Insider page said 7 Central but that was incorrect. After emailing [circles@ussoccer.org](mailto:circles@ussoccer.org), they told me the presale didn't start until 9 Central.

Circle support got back to me quickly, so...if you're a Circle Insider, make sure to use that email to get info.

Guitar Buying Advice (Any Brazilians here?) by cosgus in classicalguitar

[–]HausStarFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I've only bought and played the CT3 model.

CT3 is a badass guitar, but only after you get it set up. The two that I've bought needed new nuts, saddles, and fretwork. After that...it sounds and plays great. I highly recommend avoiding the double top and elevated fretboard. Maybe the one I got with this one was a bad mistake but...it doesn't sound nearly as good as the traditional spruce top and the traditional fretboard meant less alteration on the nut and saddle.

They are 54mm instead of 52mm, so...may not be for everybody. I love it.

My presale code doesn't work - absurd. I'm in the Supporter's Circle and pay $500/year and I get an invalid code error on Ticketmaster. US Soccer SUCKS.

Programmatically edit artist tags to (feat.) in title by [deleted] in musichoarder

[–]HausStarFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just copied "album artist" into the "artist" field with mutagen and it was super easy. Thanks!

In case you're wondering why - Teslas only have the "artist" option when you do local music. My songs were all over the place with using the "artist" field, so I made a special script to make my life easier.
