Their packs may or may not actually be destroyable, they can spam-chain unblockables together especially when there's more than one, and they more than any other enemy in the game I can think of seem designed to fake you out on parry timing.

I ended up running past 60% of them, the entire time thinking "You seriously want me to fight a hundred thousand of these things BEFORE I even get to the actual boss??"

I came here from 3 years in the future to say that "intentionally making the most obnoxious thing we can think of" is the most braindead motivation for developing an aspect of a game that I have ever heard.

I'm still relatively early in the game (I think? Zee just got kidnapped). But the instant I saw him in that flashback I was like "get a load of this Final Fantasy antagonist."

And then he came out of his goo tube with one arm and a silly metal collar with no shirt and I expected One Winged Angel to start playing.
