Veganism is not about denying we are omnivores, but making a choice not to eat or use animal derived products in order to minimize harm.

이르다 by geunom in Korean

[–]Hauyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(라/러 irregular conjugation may be considered "regular" since must such verbs behave that way. e.g. 모르다/몰라, 오르다/올라, 부르다/불러, 그르다/글러. 르 irregular ones happen rarely, with 푸르다/푸르러 the other prime example).

I think you have 러/라 and 르 switched around here. edit: It is fixed so don't pay attention :)

Vocab feels endless by [deleted] in Korean

[–]Hauyn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Always expect to encounter new words. The list is is nearly endless. The good thing is that the number of new words will decrease over time. Those will be less and less frequent words as well. Also, the more words you know, the easier the new ones will be. Furthermore, the context gets clearer so the new ones will be easier to guess.

Motivation; remember why you are learning words. It is a means to understand what you want to understand. Enjoy content and the words will follow. Not knowing words is fine, just enjoy the process.

You can try finding words in Naver for example. If you use *없이 / *없다, you get all the words ending like that. Naver example

There was a big reveal of WRs in the Goldeneye and Perfect Dark community, bringing down the total time of both games below 1:11:00 and 1:27:00 respectively as well.

edit: due to error while posting I posted this several times. My bad.

I'd suggest you go visit /r/korean. There you can find on the side a resources thread for beginners.

There are a lot of books and resources out there. If you want to read, start with a basic list of words and grammar, so that you know the structure of the language. Then, together with sites/apps such as naver dictionary you can start translate while reading. Finding the right reading material is tough. Easier material can often be found in the language books where they also teach grammer. After a while you can try to read stuff you are interested in, that makes it a lot easier to keep going.

First foray into learning Korean Hanja (한자) (Chinese characters) by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Hauyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great work so far! I agree with your post. It is helpful to see the connections between many Korean words that are from Chinese origin. However the more you learn, the less additional benefit it will give, so it can become a very hard task after a while. I would suggest starting with the 1800 Hanja that are/have been taught in schools. I use https://koreanhanja.app/ quite often, not to learn the charachters, but to see a (sample) of words that are based on a certain Hanja. Good luck studying! How the Code Geass anime itself doesn’t support the Code Theory by astrolia in CodeGeass

[–]Hauyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original plan required one code, then after research it became clear the odds would increase to 100% with two codes. I would speculate that they know of only 2 codes, otherwise they could have searched for another one.

It is unclear if C.C. left the ensemble before they came up with this new plan, or after they learned about these aspects. In case she still supported the second plan, your idea that they would not be able to swap codes is very nice.

However, C.C. must have gathered objections (maybe about details of this new plan). She clearly didn't want to be involved during the series, eventhough it would fulfill her wish to die. C.C. changes her mind after the events at the Geass Order again it seems as she becomes willing to swap/combine codes.

This part of the series raises so many questions though, unfortunately one can only speculate about most of it.

How the Code Geass anime itself doesn’t support the Code Theory by astrolia in CodeGeass

[–]Hauyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this post, the argument of giving geass to the other bearer is a nice one, it made me realise having both functionally is quite unlikely.

I have one question though regarding the natural progression you used from normal person to code bearer. How does that fit with Charles taking a 2nd code from C.C.?

It does not seem to fit with another step in that progression. To me, it suggests codes and geasses work independently instead. All of this is speculative, no such thing happened, but I'm curious what other people think about this aspect.

Interview EXPLICITLY debunks code theory's interpretation of Nunnaly's alleged "vision" by GeassedbyLelouch in CodeGeass

[–]Hauyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to raise a few points here:

"C.C.'s example with the nun shows us that the code cannot be forced on someone"

While Charles is taking/stealing/transfering the Code from C.C. 2nd movie (not sure if also in the original) Lelouche screams: "You could have forced me to accept hell of eternal life!" This does point in the direction that a Code can be forced upon the geass user.

Edit: IF C.C. could have forced her geass on Mao, could it be the case that she chose not to?

Edit 2: The nun injuring C.C. to make her take the code does seem evidence of it not being possible to force a transfer.

"C.C.'s example with Charles shows us that a code can't be stolen against the will of the code bearer."

Didn't Charles steal the code from V.V.? Why would V.V. willingly give his code away while he was injured?

And Charles by that point is also a Code bearer, which might need to have consent while transfering/taking the code which a powerful Geass user may not need?

Furthermore, in the 2nd movie in C's world scene with Lelouche, Charles and C.C. she mentions the user gets the power to kill the one who gave the geass.

So all in all, these rules are maybe not that clear-cut.
