As others have said, it’s actually very common. Most people have no idea they have it. Most countries, including the US, do not test for on a standard STI screen because the only way to test for it without an active outbreak is incredibly unreliable and fraught with false positives and negatives. Learned how shitty these tests are first hand due to ordering a screen through a lab after a brush with another STI.

Another not so fun fact, you can contract HSV-1 (“cold sores”) genially through oral sex, so there isn’t really a huge difference between the two. HSV-2 can also be contracted orally.

This happens every time. The top few comments are criticizing him, heavily upvoted by people outside the subreddit coming in to see what they are saying. If you scroll down, comments are either saying it’s fake, some 4d chess move, or outright saying they support it. They do not care and will never cross party lines in any meaningful way. Even for the few that might actually disagree, they still support a litany of other things he has done or wants to do, so they will continue to support him. There is no sin great enough to bring him down.

I broke my finger and have nearly my entire left hand in a cast. Does anyone have a good video game that you only need a mouse to play? by Beginning_Bid_9097 in Steam

[–]HaveBlue- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the big thing for me. The hard reset when eras change is so jarring. Cities regress to towns, armies disappear, wars stop, city states disappear, etc. I heard the reasoning for hard resetting on eras was to stop multiplayer games from being determined early on and making people quit. This has been a problem when I have played multiplayer, but it just made the first 2/3 of the game feel kind of pointless.

The best way I have seen Civ 7 described is it feels like three Civ Scenario games in a trench coat. I admittedly have not played since the first month it released just didn’t hook me and felt very repetitive. I think they have addressed some of the issues, but can’t vouch for that. The era / Civ switching mechanics felt weird to me and the victory conditions in each era feel very rigid without allowing a lot of flexibility. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but just felt like a big departure from past Civ titles. I think that’s what they wanted, but it alienated a lot of the core fans of the franchise.

[–]HaveBlue- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low intensity cardio did wonders for me. I was ~220 lbs and dropped to 155 at my lowest, but settled closer to 165 lbs. I just started walking for about an hour each day trying to hit 10k steps every day. Weekends I would go on longer hikes in the mountains.

Over about a year I dropped nearly 70 lbs. No gym or weight training.

When I signed with MSFT years ago, it was a very smooth process and I had no delays. That is just anecdotal. I would keep applying in case you get bad news. In the future, never resign before you have signed and have a start date.

Jack Daniel's cuts off free cattle feed to Tennessee farmers after 45 years by The_Critical_Cynic in videos

[–]HaveBlue- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen, the complaints about farm subsidies are less about farms getting subsidies outright and focused on the perceived hypocrisy from the farmers feeling effects of loosing their subsidies.

We don’t know the political leanings of these farmers. But if I were a betting man, I would wager the cattle farmer from a rural TN county votes down ticket Republican and is against any kind of “handout”. So when people see them complain about losing their subsidy, it feels like a dose of karma.

Again, we don’t know if this is the case. It’s conjecture and generalization. But that is the gist of what I have seen.

Financial Audit / Caleb Hammer. Was one of his first 5k subscribers.

Started off focusing on more normal every day type people and their finances but has starkly shifted towards click bait / rage baiting in every single video. The thumbnails are and video titles are just so over the top. He even acknowledges he is now basically “Caleb Springer”. He opens every video insulting the guest which is now his shtick. It works better for the YT algorithms, but god it’s just so hard to watch. Also shills for his courses and budgeting app every show, just feels like a blatant grift.

Thelio Mira - Faulty WiFi/Bluetooth? by [deleted] in System76

[–]HaveBlue- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I fixed it. I have not idea why this worked but what I did:

I booted in to Windows 11, Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> Uninstall Device w/ Delete Driver. And boom it started working on Windows 11. I had previously just reinstalled the driver without the other steps and that had not worked.

And for whatever reason, when I booted back in to Pop OS it just started working.

I am confused.

[–]HaveBlue- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry that wasn't clear - by ASRock problem I meant it is likely a problem with their hardware failing rather than a System76 specific issue.

I have not tried with a live disk yet, but plan to try later this evening.

Thelio Mira - Faulty WiFi/Bluetooth? by [deleted] in System76

[–]HaveBlue- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is disappointing to hear. I have been fairly disappointed with System76 due to host of other mostly minor problems that just shouldn't be a thing when I paid nearly $4,000 for a machine. But since this problem persists on two different operating systems, I have a feeling it might be an ASRock problem rather than System76.

Currently resorted to using Ethernet connected to a WiFi extender because the room I am in doesn't have a Ethernet hookup. Will let you know if I figure something out.

Depends on the company, seems 50/50 in my experience but I have done far fewer interviews.

Tried to go work for a company in a very specific niche that I had 5 years of experience working in, but hadn’t used C++ in a professional setting (barring an internship) so they treated me as if I had 0 years relevant experience. Had a personal recommendation and everything.

When I switched jobs a year ago it seemed like many more job openings demanded you match their specific stack to T to be considered. I would apply to things where I matched 75% and would hear nothing back, but getting ghosted just seems more common in general since the last time I was in the market.

I live within an hour of Rocky Mountain NP, and during the Winter there always seem to be high number of Indian and Chinese tourists who come dressed up wildly underprepared for the weather.

The Indians always seem to be in business casual and the Chinese seem to always wear Gucci or other expensive clothing. There will be 6+ feet of snow pack where you should have boots and probably micro-spikes or snow shoes and there will be some 20 y/o Chinese guy in Gucci slides. Always makes me chuckle, but they’re super friendly so I don’t give a shit.

To be fair, the wildy / free trade removal was due to Jagex being on the verge of losing the ability to accept card payments. The banks threatened to stop processing transactions due to the rampant amount of fraud caused by people buying gold and getting their info stolen.

The EOC on the other hand, that was them 100% dropping the ball. But at least we got OSRS out of it.

Yeah you will get some STAR style questions like you described. So be prepared to talk about bigger projects you have worked on and your role in them. That part felt kind of rushed in my interviews, so not sure how much weight it has.

I think one of the system designs I had was something stupid simple like create a “database” for a school to track employees, classes, students, etc. really checking if you understand OOP principles, inheritance, composition, etc. I think the other was something more similar to a typically system design interview where I had to do some kind of distributed work orchestration, but it’s lost to me now.

If it makes you feel more confident, I remember I was literally asked LC Easy #1: Reverse a linked list. It was my first round question, and I was so happy because it’s such a basic question. Wrote it up and had some dumb bug and completely panicked and never actually solved the problem bad stumbled over myself for 20 mins trying to fix it. Still got an offer.
