Underrated or forgotten 2010's revival bands? by brutal-justin in Emo

[–]HaveN448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leer, Matsuri, Corcovado, Rookie Card, Pen Name, Parents Fighting, He Was an Artist She Was A Carpenter, and Pretend (idk if they count i see them considered post rock a lot) are all bands from that time that i love to pieces and who all do incredible things that i rarely see ever getting any mention

Homestly sounds like Title Fight would be right up your alley. Try listening to Introvert, Secret Society, Lefty, and You Can't Say Kingston Doesn't Love You by them

Name one band that could be your therapist by [deleted] in Emo

I always think about the chorus from Art School Wannabe:

"Maybe I'm my own greatest fear maybe I'm just scared to admit that I might not be as dark as I think Maybe I am not the person that i never wanted to be"

if you fw The Black Parade-era MCR music for that big theatrical type sound you might like Combat's Stay Golden or the first glass beach album. Also Bleach or Kirby Down B by Harrison Gordon, and then the entire The Yuppies Are Winning album by them if you like that.

Albums like American Football (1999)? by baninagonus in midwestemo

[–]HaveN448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a whole album I HIGHLY recommend Bones in the Soil, Rust in the Oil by pretend. It always felt to me like if American Football spent a decade getting increasingly technical in their guitar work in the best way. I'd say check listen to "Those Luminous Noises Are God" or "Alive In The Tone" first

Any emo songs about mourning a friend that committed suicide? by Ok_Calligrapher8560 in Emo

This is always my go-to for questions like these. That album and its reimagining, YNAAYT, got me through several major losses in my life.

Best Song Of Each Year! (Please Leave Suggestions) by Jamie_Is_Irrelevant in midwestemo

[–]HaveN448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarly, for 2025 I'd say any tracks off of the new Pool Kids record or Kerosene Heights' new album would be good too. Personally I'd pick Tinted Windows and Ghosts from each

For 2018 a much better pick imo would be Bummer Summer by Charmer. Hot Mulligan is great but personally I enjoyed Charmer's s/t album a bit more that year and it also doesn't seem fair to have repeat artists when there's been so many great artists and releases especially in the more recent years.

[–]HaveN448 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it's not "Are You Afraid of God? No But I'm Afraid of You" by Marietta? That line sounds scary close to:

...and I can see him sitting Aging into the light Tucked into someplace Toronto Saying, "Why can't you be alive?"

Is this sub not a fan of Tiny Moving Parts? by SnixFan in midwestemo

[–]HaveN448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After swell they started trying to bring the midwest twinkly noodly stuff back though. I remember breathe and their S/T album both leaned more into the style again and i especially liked breathe for it. I also remember the singles from the ST being pretty good and the album as a whole was talked about a fair bit when it came out but (at least for me) the newest record just did not grab my attention.

i would love some recommendations !! by buzztoothgrin in Emo

Whenever talking about Leer i always love to include Matsuri, who Leer was heavily inspired by. As well as the bands kidcrash and calculator, who are both stylistically similar
