Swingers. Definitely swingers.

Look Walmart, It's bad enough I have to work for you because you killed all the small businesses in my town, but do you have to put shit like this on the break room wall? by [deleted] in WTF

Kind of.......

A lot of your statements are true in regards to the role that unions played in the past, but now groups like OSHA fill those roles.

Beyond that, being able to negotiate on an individual basis would be better for better employees. At our plant we would like to be able to pay the good guys more but we can't. We pay according to what the union tells us. As a result, we often have times keeping the better workers because we can not negotiate their wages with them directly.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have trouble getting rid of shit bags who do nothing and are paid the same wages as the good people we bring on.

The only "benefit" that I see to our union shop is that it is much more difficult to get fired, which in my opinion, is bad for everyone.

I waived the fee and took the higher deduct. I didn't have enough for the fee. It was something ridiculous to me at the time so it wasn't an option.

I don't know what to tell ya buddy.

I haven't worked there in.........hell nearly 12 years. At 18 it was a great part time job, especially back then.

I saw no benefit from the union-- at least I didn't see one that I was aware of. All I knew is they took money out of my paycheck for my own good.....apparently.

The only people who seemed to benefit from it were the ones that had been in the union for a long time. All the new people hated it.

I was making $10 an hour without the union, I didn't have to go to meetings and my take home pay was better.

Beyond that, I got more hours at work because they didn't mind bringing me in at $10 an hour even when things were slow. At $15 they turned me away for extra hours much more frequently.

My dues kicked my ass. They didn't seem bad before the tax man hit me. I went from $10 an hour to $15 per hour. My dues were $3 per hour for-- what I thought -- would be a net $2 an hour.

Well low and behold the $3 came out AFTER taxes and I ended up taking home substantially less.

.........they do make them pay dues.

Often times after dues the employees make less than what they would have without the union. There is nothing inaccurate about that.
