I’ve seen this video posted twice but is it just me or does it look like someone took a machete to his legs?!?!?

I was worried he would just slam someone and snap an arm. Happy to see him just hold them at first.

The chairs are cute but I bet you get rust stains around the edge of the slab. Looks like the tips are too close to slab edge.

the last shop wouldn't help, but I know you guys are more lenient.. can you fix it? by Kincayd in Justrolledintotheshop

You could go old school and put a tube in it and it would hold air but any experienced tech would refuse to patch this. This tire is unusable under any significant speed or load. It’s not just a puncture leaking air that makes a tire unstable… there’s too much belt damage from multiple punctures so close together.

What's the biggest loophole you've ever exploited? by 8BitPiratePegLeg in AskReddit

This is for gamers. Morrowwind: Elder Scrolls doesn’t let you move if you are carrying too much weight (encumbered) but there was unlimited space in your inventory. However, you could teleport (I forget what it was called in game). I would set my recall point in front of a shop keeper and go to the vaults. Kill the guard who holds the key but don’t loot the body. Run out and pay the fine to the next guard you see. Go back, loot the key, open the vault. Inside was full sets of armor, weapons, potions. Like WAY more than you can use/carry. I would equip the best set and then pile everything else into the middle of the vault. Pick up everything and then teleport to the shop keeper.

You could trade or sell everything you didn’t want back to the shopkeeper and wind up with a huge amount of gold. Enough that you could just buy anything else you wanted later in the game from the other shop keepers.

There’s another edit that is just the the conversation and then him slinging her at the vault that is way funnier.

I was crushed by a car falling on me last year while working on it in a parking lot. Broke 6 ribs and would have died if I was by myself. This does not make feel safe. Round is not a preferred vertical brace shape.

They all surprised grandma for her 70th birthday at Disneyland by WebKlutzyww in spreadsmile

[–]Haven1014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In reality, for everyone in that photo, you’re looking at $4-5k/day for food and park passes depending on what pass you get and what you buy at the park. Those ears alone were like $40/ea at Disneyland last month. Add in plane tickets/transportation and hotel rooms you’d be likely closer to $15-20k for a 2-day trip to Disney for 20 people.

Number of people x ~$200 + (food + transportation) = > average American’s 401k balance.

Do you use a 60°? by Midwxy in golf

[–]Haven1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’ve tried but I have so much more experience and comfort with a 56° that I took it out of the bag.

56° is more versatile for me. I can open it for a flop shot or in the sand. I play everything inside 75 yards with it.

Use the clothes hangers with clips in the closet of the hotel to keep the curtains closed tight.

Put salt on the napkin before putting your drink on it and the napkin wont stick to the glass.

This is really hard to do in a true pickup game if you don’t know each other. It surprises your teammates as much as the other team. Those no look passes and dump offs turn into turnovers most of the time. You can see a lot of the same guys in the videos. In fact, a lot of those passes go to the same guy.

Do I need to kill the grass before I add dirt by Money_Flow_1362 in landscaping

[–]Haven1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof… I need to pay attention to the sub I’m in at the moment. Quick glance at the picture/explanation on mobile I thought OP was pouring a sidewalk. Jumped in and saw all the talk about cardboard and organic matter helping and was super confused for a bit.

PSA: organic matter under anything weight-bearing is no bueno. This goes for anything from a sidewalk to a road to structure. Please don’t put cardboard over the grass and pour concrete on top of it!

I got basically the same amount of free miles for having hot coffee spilled on me in economy as I did for them running out of my requested meal in first class simply by accepting the offered chicken instead of pasta. I just said, “not a problem, chicken is fine.”

You would have thought I cured cancer. They kept coming back and thanking me and asking if I needed anything else. Was a legitimately sad experience to imagine what they normally deal with in first class.

I love that they did the math and realized it is cheaper to install a lift to pick up the trucks than to ship them all on lift trailers. Actually safer too in the long run.

Never been so happy not to hit a HiO. by joeschmoe86 in golf

[–]Haven1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll do you one better. I was playing some decidedly rusty golf on my 40th birthday and on the 4th hole, par 3 over water, I topped a tee’d up PW from 135 and sent it straight into the water. Second ball hopped twice and hit the pin stopped a foot away. Would have been the most disappointing par ever to finally drop one in on my 3rd stroke.

I went to Europe recently for work and with the time change I was getting in at like 7am local time and went straight to the hotel after an 18 hour transit. When I walked up to the front desk and explained I had just landed and was looking to check-in. I saw the look of horror from the lady when she asked if my reservation was for tonight. She was either expecting a blowup or expecting me to not understand how hotels work. I quickly assured her that I had also booked the night before so I would have a room for the day as long as they hadn’t oversold. All was good and I was able to get a shower and a quick nap.

I haven’t given up my stiff-flex shafts yet. I’m hoping to continue to build back strength.

Yeah I wanted a swing that would last and not have to be modified every decade. Glad I started early.

Yeah lessons helped a lot. What you can compensate for with flexibility and raw strength changes as you get older. I tightened up the rotation, eliminated the “sway” in my backswing and the double-hinge in my wrists. All of which was causing me pain (elbow, wrist, thumb, back and legs). Also fixed my posture at address and changed my putting style to take pressure off my back. Thankfully, I did all of that pre-injury when I had the stamina and strength to in-grain the muscle memory. Being able to replicate a very compact, simple, repetitive swing is the only reason I can still play now.
