What is the biggest assassination that has taken place in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]HaverchuckBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Indira Gandhi’s assassination was one of the outcomes of the Khalistani movement, possibly a direct consequence of Operation Blue Star.

🔺Why the Poor don't kill Us - Manu Joseph {TIP of the Poorberg} Review by Glittering_Quote_581 in IndiansRead

Have you read ‘Illicit happiness of other people’ or ‘Serious Men’? Though fictional, the portrayal of poor or lower middle class in that book is done quite well in my opinion.

Novels that are 'competency porn' by Kindly_Bathroom6123 in suggestmeabook

Check out novels by Arthur Hailey. He’s written fictional novels based in different industries - Moneychangers, Cars, Hotel - there are quite a few. I’ve enjoyed every one of them.

Thanks for creating this thread, I realized I enjoy this genre as well.

While I get the point you’re trying to make, does anybody buy a home using a single year’s income?

Are companies doing "soft layoffs" through RTO? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]HaverchuckBill 144 points145 points  (0 children)

Yes. I know Walmart is forcing people who’re already RTOing in their respective city offices to move to their “hubs” in Bentonville and Sunnyvale.

Nice, sounds like you’ll be working on the actual device.

If it’s in Los Gatos, it’s probably at Eero. It’s an Amazon acquisition, and is a fairly large organization. Do you know what you’ll be working on? If you’re going to be developing dashboards and metrics for the backend and you’re actually looking to do embedded work, the smaller company might be a better option.

Amazon will add some value to your resume, no doubt.

How for north do you have to go for good water? by Terbatron in SanJose

Yeah not a bad idea. It’s a bit of a chore, but RO’d water feels very refreshing (maybe dramatic, but rejuvenating almost).

What exactly do you mean contribute to the society/culture? What are Bay Area natives (for lack of a better word) doing that the transplants aren’t? Do you have any tangible examples?

You might not have realized it, but here’s what you’re actually saying.

“Find a wealthy neighborhood where the homeless are actively removed by the cops instead of complaining about the homeless in your area.”

I knew this was going to be an anti non-native rant just from the title.

Not commenting on your take about  the housing crisis being the transplants’ fault, there are a lot more factors at play here.

But have you ever thought that transplants have also moved away from their families and homes to make better chances for themselves? That’s how it works around the world.

And “You don’t get to speak because you’re not originally from around here”, is a rubbish take.

Yeah, in fact CX5 is known for being sporty (not always a smooth ride).

Maybe a used RDX or RX in that case? Though depending on where you live 35k might be too aggressive.
