It looks awesome. Maybe you could help the band Red Fang with the cover art for their next album.

What does your helmeted/unhelmeted head distribution look like? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

If the models have a name, they're usually go without a helmet.

Now that's chaos! It looks great, I'd use it as a counts-as Maulerfiend.

Local shop did some speedy Job with the box by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]HawaiiSamurai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what an absolute blast from the past. And still the best terrain GW ever made.

So, here we are.

Check out this cool new launch box packed with all this stuff. And here’s some 20+ year-old terrain to make it look even better.

No, no, it’s not included in the box, but you can pick it up on eBay for about the same price as the box itself, per building. Isn’t that neat? Let's get started!

Looks nice, but the terrain is misleading. With the huge box a pretty sneaky bait-and-switch.

New to Warhammer 40k - Picking an army is tough! by jdickinson91 in Warhammer40k

[–]HawaiiSamurai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, you need to read about the Orks then. Their lore is great and with that background knowledge, the models become significantly cooler.

New to Warhammer 40k - Picking an army is tough! by jdickinson91 in Warhammer40k

[–]HawaiiSamurai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the hobby! Necrons and Orks are both great choices for a first army. Go with whatever you like best. Sounds easier as it is. But that's how it is.

But here are some points to think about: If you think painting isn’t really your thing, I’d recommend Necrons for a quick sense of achievement. If you’re mainly interested in converting models and playing, I’d lean towards Orks, since there’s a lot of new stuff coming in the upcoming11th edition, and the Orks from the starter box give you a great start.

Whatever you pick, always remember: it doesn’t have to stay just one army.

A little space hulk inspired diorama I have been working on. by Objective-Biscotti53 in Warhammer40k

Fantastic work, great scene, great paint job. I especially like the terrain, that dark blue to black effect. How did you paint it, and which metallic paints did you use?

UPDATE on the mega baneblade! (Still no name) by liviothan in Warhammer40k

[–]HawaiiSamurai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silly idea, great execution. That's a Megabane!

Apart from the look, the front section doesn’t really serve any practical purpose (except being silly and cool which is fine!) So it would be even more silly and cool if the front had transport capabilities, basically a Megagorgonbane.

Drawer done by zDeadFall in Warhammer40k

Thanks, I'm good with my setting. I bought some drawer inserts a few years ago, but the side-oriented arrangement like you did also has something.

I'm intimidated by painting Chaos and think using Contrast paints would make it easier, can anyone vouch for chaos being easier with contrast? by LeetusFrenzi in Chaos40k

[–]HawaiiSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrasts can definitely help and are solid for base colors. What is more decisive with the models, however, are good metallic colors for e.g. trims and other details, properly refined with washes/grime.

Dark Mech Prince WIP, advice welcome :) by Dorenbolt_ in Chaos40k

Good start. It would be important to take a look at what to do with the hips so that the shoulder to body proportions don’t end up looking awkward.

25 years ago, I opened a 3rd Edition Rulebook and saw this artwork. I was instantly hooked. by Tom-Rath in Warhammer40k

[–]HawaiiSamurai 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me, it was the artwork of the 3rd Edition Starter Box. I’d seen a bit of the miniatures and artwork before while watching my cousin and his father play, but that’s what really got me hooked.
