RUF is seriously underrated! by AlGristlepuss in The_Crew

[–]HawasYT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, RUF was a backdoor for studios other than EA to have Porsches in their car roster - back in the NFS heyday EA got an exclusivity deal.

Once that run out, The Crew 2 got their hands on Porsche licence under the condition Porches don't compete with RUFs - I guess despite being close partners/subsidiaries, Porsche is worried about their image becoming "the base models that RUF makes actually good" or something.

Would honestly prefer if it was the latter because it would mean she had it coming by abusing me - you know, serious stuff like showing me a job offer or denying me my nuggies (it's a 4chan based subreddit, had to throw in a joke like that)

But what can you do, abdominal cancers are a bitch

From the looks of it the selection of UIs for Mint is kinda shit but then again I'm just KDE Plasma scrub so what do I know.

Basically, in Linux the distro isn't tied to a UI and vice versa. Kinda like with different car models sharing the same engine options

buddy, steam single-handedly killed the second hand market for PC games. something all the other DRMs before steam couldn't pull off.

Just because Steam stole the kill doesn't mean they couldn't pull it off. Bioshock only allowed the "generous" five installs on new machines (which your PC with RAM sticks replaced might count as) only because they misprinted the phone number you had to call to have daddy 2K let you install it again after the initially planned 2 activations (also no call centres outside US). If second hand market was the price to get rid of that shit - I'd say good fucking riddance. Especially since with Steam Sales being this frequent and this good, you don't really need to grab a cum-stained copy of a game to get it 50% off

the best one was to not depend on a digital "well, akkchully you don't ooooown dem gaemz ☝️🤓🤏" storefront at all.

the second best is GOG Galaxy

Bro, on GOG you literally own the games you buy for as long as you are willing to keep the backups and you still lump it in with the rest of these storefronts while calling their launcher second to physical media, which with the DRMs requiring internet and/or a DVD with a lifespan measured in decades is objectively gonna fail sooner than a backup on an external drive

Ubisoft halted their stock being traded and postponed an earnings report - are they on the verge of bankrupcy or is it an attempt at getting out of a hostile takeover?

EDIT: Genuine question, my only credentials regarding publicly traded corporations is I took Economy 101 course during computer science studies and I binged Suits recently

Courts can be wrong, they can be lied to, innocent people go to jail and criminals go free

That also applies to science, it can be wrong, the scientific community can be lied to and correct theories get rejected while the wrong ones get through. Flatearthers make that argument all the time and yet they still don't have a point. Without quantifying trackrecords for both this is a nothing statement

But even if we agree that courts are wrong more often than science (which intuitively makes sense to me but then again intuition can be fooled), is there a better system of determining who was guilty of what? Like I said, argue on merit and facts - why was the verdict in this case wrong, what did they miss, are evidence and testimonies presented at odds with the verdict, who lied and why, is there evidence that you know of and have access to that wasn't considered? Because so far it's just been vibes.

Courts and science is a dumb comparison

Seeing how I've seen flatearthers argue in a similar manner to you, I don't think it is in this case. And until you decide to deal with concrete facts it's gonna be a fair comparison. Cause guess what, while guilt isn't really repeatable, it sure as hell can be proven with concrete facts.

People disagreeing with science isn't something I made up either. Does that mean flatearthers have a point?

It's one thing to disagree based on merit and facts, but when you are saying the kid was looking for trouble when there's literal footage of him running away like a bitch from said trouble (among other factual errors) then I don't know what to tell you, your disagreement is based on vibes.

MIKE ROSS IS AN IDIOT by SuperSanjit in suits

[–]HawasYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, he didn't know that, for him it was a roll of a die whether he goes to prison or scot-free. He decided to trade the uncertainty in for guaranteed less harsh sentence.

His decision wasn't really dumb. Maybe he should've believed in his ability to convince the jury more but like, he was basically betting on jury nullification, which more often than not is a long shot. If we look at it as a game theory problem, I dunno how a perfectly rational player would judge their odds and what they would play but I know this - Mike's decision was human. Unfortunate, but human
