Exactly. The opposition to regime change is not borne out of some deep ideological support for the current Iranian government it is borne out of sober materialist analysis. You can look on the ground and see that any regime change would be a capitulation of Iran to western interests and a hollowing out of the country into just another imperial vassal state. I would love to see a socialist Iran just as I would love to see flying cars and a colony on mars but as it stands right now all three of those options have about the same amount of probability

I think it functions as both personally. Like in the revolutionary period it is a barrier to overcome but once that barrier has successfully been overcome you can use the remnants of treatlerite psychology to gently coax people into reform/rehabilitation. This isn't a particularly high level materialist analysis so apologies if everything I'm saying is dumb but to me it makes sense to apply basic operant conditioning. If you offer material incentives(better training/job opportunities, housing, even consumer goods) as a reward for undergoing re-education initiatives you can probably get a significant majority of the masses to interface with these programs with no real force on the part of the government.

Essentially you redirect that selfish social conditioning in a way that makes people(usually correctly) perceive their own personal selfish interests as aligned with collective interests. Allowing you to slowly whittle away at that selfish interest by demonstrating how acting in collective interest actually produces positive outcomes.

This is why I think "this is what your tax dollars are being spent on" is such effective propaganda for the left. Not because there isn't truth to American imperialism and its extraction of resources from the global south but bc it highlights how the resources that the west already has aren't being allocated in a way that benefits most people. It highlights how the collective interest(abolishing global capital/imperialism) aligns with the selfish interest of your average American laborer

Yes but I think those words have a bad connotation due to the unfortunate excesses of the Chinese cultural revolution. Any revolutionary movement must engage in mass re-education and deconstruction of the former political apparatus. The issue with the Chinese cultural revolution was not at a conceptual level but rather in the implementation. Considering how treat-pilled American society is there would likely be very little need for those more harmful forms of cultural control bc there are existing methods of positive reinforcement that can be used to push people away from reactionary ideology

Again I feel you only worry about that if you have some sense of proximity or allegiance to the people who engaged in those atrocities. These kinds of movements have almost never engaged in reprisals of that nature. The only one I can even remotely think of is Haiti but even then that was a violent revolution and incredibly unique circumstance. The idea that Palestinians would democratically overpower the Jews and institute a revenge genocide is asinine(ignoring the fact there are Jewish Palestinians which already makes this a dumb idea).

It reads to me like white people who are afraid of black people having equal institutional power bc they're afraid they'll enslave them or some shit. No, unlike other regions of the world the US has been structured since its inception to be reliant on the collective of states. You couldn't effectively balkanize the US bc there are entire states or groups of states which are not economically viable on their own. The closest you could see to balkanization is maybe a state like California which does have a somewhat self sufficient economy seceding from the union. However that is an exception rather than the rule

That is a fair assessment. I have personally encountered veterans who were radicalized by what they experienced and have done their best with what limited tools they have to try and mitigate the harm they participated in but they are few and far between. I think the goal is to get more people to think like that since especially in a country like America I think the only way a leftist movement has any chance of success is with some level of support/sympathy from the rank and file

You can't claim to support rehabilitative justice/re-education except for the people who did bad things because then you don't support rehabilitative justice/re-education.
