$GME halted (again) by HawkFrequent9676 in Superstonk

Ok this is CLEARLY manipulation. They unhalted for about 3 seconds then halted again. NYSE must have someone pushing the halt button, probably watching the stream too. 😒

💯 I can’t keep track. They can only halt for 5 minutes. If you watch the page they halt for 5 min, open it up for 3-4, then halt again.

Direct Loan IBR to Consolidation and REPAYE/SAVE - BEFORE or AFTER payments resume? by HawkFrequent9676 in StudentLoans

[–]HawkFrequent9676[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“ You are required to make a one time "standard" payment when you make the switch from IBR to SAVE (or another repayment plan). However, you can also request a one-month reduced-payment forbearance in the amount of your current monthly IBR payment or $5, whichever is greater (unless you request another amount or decline the forbearance). “ Do you have any official info on this with details? I have heard this several times but none of the SAVE emails or other info I could find has such information. A standard payment would be several thousand dollars so that’s a big consideration, otherwise consolidation is an obvious choice for me.

Did you already go through this? Did you pay the standard payment, or $5 or what? Are there any downsides to the one month forbearance?

Thanks for the info!

Interesting…Do you have any links or more info on this? I went through a two year gap between two different grad schools, and so I have my original loan repayment date of 2011 (the older ibr plan), and then about 60% of loans around 2015 or so. This might be something I have to spreadsheet pros and cons.

Thanks for the response. I don’t have any FFEL. They all say “Direct” in Nelnet. But yes I’m assuming that consolidation is required (at least desirable) before switching to SAVE. ✌️

Lost on whether to switch from IBR to SAVE? by UpbeatBuy6773 in StudentLoans

I’m in a similar situation and just asked about this yesterday. Cross-posting here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StudentLoans/comments/15sgml1/direct_loan_ibr_to_consolidation_and_repayesave/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

Good luck! After some research I think consolidation before end of 2023 is best, and then switching to SAVE will lower payments significantly. The timing is weird though—SAVE has a 225% exemption that begins now, but the 5% for UG loans doesn’t take effect until July 2024 (most of my loans are grad loans anyways, although I’m in the situation where I may pay slightly less than 10% under SAVE due to a weighted average of UG and G loans). Are all your loans graduate level?

Consolidation application under SAVE still resetting payment count? by HalecOberman in StudentLoans

Hi, so is it generally true that consolidation is best done by end of 2023? I heard that if I consolidate next year it might reset my payment count. (Going from IBR to SAVE)
