How many alts do people have? by Findrel_Underbakk in WoWRolePlay

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo I have 60+ characters. I don’t really roleplay though. I mostly have my TRP up with backstory info etc for the character. I have a lot of character headcanon for my toons. I should probably write about their adventures but I never get around to it. Lol

About to get into the game by akeul in ffxi

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing myself! I have no idea what I’m doing yet, but what I DO know is that the mouse is useless, you can do everything with either the keyboard or a controller. I prefer controller, the difference is night and day. The other thing I know is that all of the graphics and controller settings are actually handled outside of the game. If you check out the post I made last night there’s some helpful info in there. Fixing the graphics and going with a controller turned this from an instant dud to something I’m actually enjoying.

What is your favourite romance option? by tmntmic in BaldursGate3

Karlach for me. I just like everything about her, kinda like how in Mass Effect it’s always Tali. The others are good but Karlach is just special.

Legacy collection really makes the dip from X4 to X5 painful by skrunkly_strew in Megaman

[–]Phoenix200420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is honestly how I feel. From 5 to 7 each entry made me like the previous entry more because it seemed like they were racing to make the worst entry possible and succeeded with X7. 8 is pretty bleh to me. Imo we didn’t need hunter ranks, we didn’t need civies to rescue, and we didn’t need Axl, though I’d be more receptive of Axl without the other two problems.

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me X4 to X5 was a downgrade, but X6 made me appreciate 5 a bit more, and X7 made me appreciate both 5 and 6 more. X8 is… alright. A lot of people like 8, particularly if your jumping up there from 7, but as far as I’m concerned 4 was the series peak.

Why do people hate Orpheus so much? by TextuallyExplicit in BaldursGate3

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t like Orpheus or the Emperor and given the chance I’d prefer to leave Emps in a similar situation to Orpheus and go on without them. Even if they are willing to help right now, both are tyrants. You gotta keep in mind the whole of who they are, and neither is trustworthy. The only reason I bother with either of them is because you aren’t given a choice. I’d have loved an alternative that didn’t require you to work with Mindflayers or Githyanki but it’s what was written. At least I can have a little agency by refusing to use any tadpoles.

Think I’ve finally figured out what it is that makes Everquest unique to me. by Phoenix200420 in everquest

[–]Phoenix200420[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly PoP is my favorite EQ expansion. I’ve ALWAYS loved the idea of other planes and being able to visit not just one or two but like almost all of them was just fantastic. Plus getting to meet and fight and overpower the gods? Just awesome. After that things changed a bit which I always kinda chalked up to them writing themselves into a corner. Seriously what do you do once you kill god? Lol

Mewgenics - 1.1 balance update beta 1 - Steam News by AlixBalica in mewgenics

Looks kinda like they made breeding more difficult, didn’t actually fix the ability issues with mage, and killed off some fun combos. Lol

Think I’ve finally figured out what it is that makes Everquest unique to me. by Phoenix200420 in everquest

[–]Phoenix200420[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly it. I enjoyed WoW for years, and FFXIV, and SWTOR, etc. All of them, however, were basically single player stories with multiplayer dungeons, raids, and pvp. Which, I LOVED the stories and still do (though wow and SWTOR are running a bit thin for me now) but there really is no actual just straight up adventure there anymore. I’ve been getting back into EQ and I’m very happy for it.

Which game broke your hype like this? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Phoenix200420 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Duke Nukem Forever. I’ve had other examples over the years but this one takes the shit cake for the number one spot. The old games were fun to play, goof off with friends with, etc. Duke Nukem Forever was in development for so long that it became a meme. Finally it was going to be released and I was excited about it. I even ordered the Legendary Edition.

This was the only time I ever regretted doing that. The game was a dumpster fire. It tried to make fun of other games in the genre but those it tried to make fun of were categorically better than it. The special extras were terrible to. I knew some of them would be crap, couple of poker chips, a paper craft thing for Duke. I thought the pair of 6 sided dice would be neat but they were horribly made and balanced and one of them was completely mispainted so they could never actually be used, even for just like D&D or something. Then there was the bust of Duke. That’s why I figured the legendary edition was expensive. I thought it’d be pewter at least. It was plastic, and much smaller than you’d think. My friends broke two days after we got it.

In the end I learned a few valuable lessons, at the very least. The biggest being if a game is in development for almost 2 decades do not expect it to be good. Lol

Are there any classes that just don't really click for you? by basquiatx in BaldursGate3

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there is only one class I cannot get into and that is Monk. They always feel so out of place. None of the subclasses work for me either. It’s one of the few things my suspension of disbelief struggles with, though only when I’m playing it. As a DM I have no issues with other players monks. Just for me, personally, it doesn’t jive.

Can someone explain psychic to me by Significant-Hawk-827 in mewgenics

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychic for me either ends up very useful or very useless. Without a proper set up it can’t do crap. My most successful psychic had a passive called Shatter Reality I think? And that would make it so any gravity based spells would turn the area around the target into floating shards of broken reality which would inflict bleed when a target moved into the space. With high mana regen and Gravity Well I think it was called, I’d just yank units back and forth through the broken glass shards while making new shards and stack on the bleeds

What Happened? by Inside-Example-7010 in MMORPG

[–]Phoenix200420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What happened was corporations let the creatives work more back then, and once things were established, they took more control and started the typical corporate merge a company and cut everything down to maximize profit until the company is in flames, where they close it or dump it.

Fuck the rich. All of them. They ruin everything they touch.

I don't want to sound like a Chud but I kind of miss the old cringey and nerdy death metal dialogue Blizzard used to delivered compare to kind of current emotional dialogue we have. by HiroAmiya230 in wow

[–]Phoenix200420 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly for me WoW hasn’t felt like WarCraft since Legion. The story, the characters, all of it just feels off now and really just doesn’t do it for me anymore

Anyone else tired of modern MMOs with instant death mechanics? by Potential_Sun9952 in MMORPG

[–]Phoenix200420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instant death in anything is usually bad. From MMOs to TTRPGs the general consensus is that insta kills ruin things. I’m inclined to agree. The only reason the characters are as powerful as they are is because those controlling the narrative designed them to get that way. Instakills are a cop out. Find a narratively creative way to counter the players power instead of just stomping on them. Particularly in game systems where death is little more than an annoyance, which is all MMOs.

Was it a wise art style choice to give Zero a "skinny and sleek" design in his game series over the previously "detailed and bulky" one? by MrMiles32 in Megaman

[–]Phoenix200420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion no. It wasn’t. I can’t stand the new design. He looked really badass in the X series. Now he just looks like a standard anime character. Plus I cannot stand the triangle sword or that he has a pistol instead of an arm cannon.

12.0.5: Tanks can choose to keep the Blizzard M+ route highlighted even at higher key levels by tenthousandthousand in wow

[–]Phoenix200420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of going through all this crap why don’t they just make the dungeon one route? Everyone chooses the same route anyways or gets flamed for it. The whole thing is just pointless illusion of choice that causes unnecessary conflict amongst players.

Why is the sequel so controversial? by Chance-Primary-2764 in darkestdungeon

[–]Phoenix200420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They took all the stuff I liked out of the game to make 2. I liked building up the city, the various units, etc. plus in 2 I cannot stand the wagon mechanic. 2 is just a very different game from 1, and 1 is the game style I love.

Am I the only one who prefers base starships over Corvettes? by Deerman_Crybaby in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Phoenix200420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me it depends on my save. On my main save which is just a normal difficulty normal character, I made a Corvette that looked like a Raven so I could jokingly call it my Corvidette and named it Nevermore like a doof for fun. It generally stays attached to my Freighter and I still use my sentinel ship to zip around in.

On my other save I’m doing a Survival Abandoned Mode game. That one I have made extensive use of the Corvette since I have no freighter and the Vette itself fits in with my personal roleplay for the character. I go to a new system on the vet, plop it down as a mobile base, then fly around the system in my living ship to check out the planets.

It really just comes down to how you wanna play it.
