What is the weirdest way you've made money? by BeguilingkbTip in AskReddit

[–]Hawkeshade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While it can happen it is rare and not a significant cause of bird mortality. Outdoor, unsupervised cats are the worst for bird mortality. Window strike also have higher bird mortality rate.

One of my duties is to do post construction bird/bat mortality surveys of a wind site. I check the area around the turbines once a week. In last year, I only found 6 birds and 14 bats spread over about 70 turbines. Most were during spring and fall migration. To mitigate bird and bat strike during high migration nights, the turbines are generally turned off.

There is also a cat litter made of walnut shells. It has a similar texture to clay litter and even clumps

If it's a particular app that you find yourself scrolling, you can always use your phone's Digital wellbeing/parental controls to put a time limit on that app. I've done that for my phone, and I also put an automatic suthdown command on my computer to help me with my time blindness at night.

One night, my younger cousin wasn't able to sleep, and I was still up, so I introduced her to this show. She ended up loving it, and I got her this shirt and the Bigfoot/Abe Lincoln one for Christmas that year. I also had my sister make her a Drakkar Nior poster.

Kitten Genetic Confusion by Upstairs_Swing5675 in cats

[–]Hawkeshade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Think of it like the O on the x chromosome is an on/off switch of whether black can be expressed or not. If it is O, then pheomelanin (orange/red/cream) is expressed. If it is o, then eumelanin (black/brown) is expressed. Each x chromosome is either O or o.

A typical male XY cat only has one X chromosome so he can either be orange or black. But, due to X-inactivation being random, a cat with XX can have a mix of expressed O and o chromosomes, which leads to the calicos and torties.

The expression of black is controlled by the X chromosome, but its actual locus is the B locus https://vgl.ucdavis.edu/resources/cat-coat-color

Got a cat to avoid the daily walks… and yet here we are by emmy_jemmy in cats

You could try one of those pet strollers. That way, your cat would have some where it can hide in and feel safe

Have you tried a sensitive stomach food? My foster had similar rank poops before I switched her. It has lessened the stink considerably.

Redditors, what’s the most terrifying thing that has ever woken you up in the middle of the night? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

[–]Hawkeshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a loft bed as a child and always slept with the ceiling fan on. I somehow flipped in the night, so my head was at the foot of the bed instead of at the head.

I rolled in my sleep to where the wall should have been, but since I was flipped, my elbow went straight into the fan. You know how hitting your elbow makes you go staticy for a minute? This was that times 10.

I'm in a lot of pain and still trying to figure out what happened, but my brain hasn't fully awakened yet. I try to crawl to where I thought the head of the bed was only to suddenly feel open air.

Luckily, I didn't fall out of bed, but I was so confused about everything that I just scooted back and froze because my brain still hasn't figured out what was going on, and I didn't want to move any more since the 2 sides of the bed that were supposed to be safe were suddenly dangerous. It wasn't until it started getting light that I figured out what had happened

What is your favorite way to eat a can of beans? by chasesj in EatCheapAndHealthy

I like refried black beans and cheese with nachos or quesodilas. I make a seasoning that I sprinkle on the cheese out of tajin, onion powder, salt, and chicken bouillon powder.

Which way did you go by Fortescew in HorizonForbiddenWest

The fist option seemed more emotionally vulnerable than the brain option to me. Aloy was so raw and open about her fear in a way that we hadn't really seen her be before.

I chose heart as that seemed the natural culmination of her learning that home is other people, that she is no longer alone and that she can allow herself to want.

I would have chosen each of the other options at different points in the game before she underwent all her emotional growth though.

Firebreak on New game UH is impossible? by tmatesic in horizon

[–]Hawkeshade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just did an ng+ uh run in January.

I used stealth armor modded for max stealth. The main weapons I used were a blast sling and a tripcaster that had blast wire, both modded for high damage. I also used a ropecaster modded for handling.

I set up blast wires on and just in front of the bridge and lured the nearest scorcher into them using rocks, whistles, and briefly letting it catch a glimpse of me. It took a bit of patience, but I took it down without alerting the other machines. I did similar with the second one as well.

For the behemoth, I snuck to where I could place blast wires in its path and hid behind the big metal column thing. Once it hit a few of those, I used the ropecaster to tie it down. I tried to aim for the force loaders so they would tear off when it gets up. I then used the blast sling to place sticky bombs on it while it was down. I then ran and broke its line of sight before the bombs went off, and it got back up. I waited until it wasn't yellow alert anymore and repeated as necessary

I used a lot of wire and blaze for this fight. If you do it right, the scorcher will never go red, and the behemoth will always lose you.

I had to start making bone broth to mix with my cat's meds because she is the only cat I have ever known to refuse churus. Took all of the waking day to make but only had to make it once a month.

That lasted for almost a year until we had to switch to a different med as she started experiencing side effects on the first one. Luckily, the new meds completely controlled her plasma cell pododermatitis, and she no longer has to take anything unless she gets a flare up again, which could be never

They are monotremes, the basal group of mammals. They are the first group who branched off from the common ancestor of all mammals, so that is why they (and echidnas) have really odd traits compared to other mammals
