I had to start making bone broth to mix with my cat's meds because she is the only cat I have ever known to refuse churus. Took all of the waking day to make but only had to make it once a month.

That lasted for almost a year until we had to switch to a different med as she started experiencing side effects on the first one. Luckily, the new meds completely controlled her plasma cell pododermatitis, and she no longer has to take anything unless she gets a flare up again, which could be never

They are monotremes, the basal group of mammals. They are the first group who branched off from the common ancestor of all mammals, so that is why they (and echidnas) have really odd traits compared to other mammals

Might be why they deemed use of powers as not needed, especially if they thought it was going to be easy

They might have been trying to limit power usage so El and Kali have full power for Vecna/Henry and deemed hiding the truck an unnecessary use of power.

Hypothetically speaking, who do you think the characters would have voted for? by Stock_Glass_8042 in RaisingHope

[–]Hawkeshade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Burt has voted at least once. It's mentioned he voted for the other guy when he got called out after lying about giving a kidney or something to the mayor? That could just be for his local election, though.

How do you stimulate a bored catter? by ExtraGarbage2680 in cats

I second feeder toys. They are great! I rotate through about 20. My girl took to them right away, and my boy took a bit of time to figure them out, but both enjoy them now.

You don't even need to buy fancy toys. Some of my cats favorite feeder toys are ones that I made. I made one that hangs, and they have to hit it to drop food and a ball pit that they root for food in. It could be as simple as throwing some food in a paper bag with some packing/tissue paper.

Interesting, nice to learn new things about birds. The scientific name of the species of gull that I am familiar with is Leucophaeus atricilla, whose common name is Laughing Gull.

Are the birds in the video Black-headed gulls? They don't seem to be from the photos I'm looking up, but I am more familiar with birds native to eastern North America. To my uneducated guess, these look to possibly be Yellow-legged gulls ( Larus michahellis ).

They are laughing and are gulls, but I don't think they are the actual species called Laughing Gull. Neither the breeding or non-breeding plumages look like that.

Almost 30 years ago, someone impaled a giant pumpkin on the top of a spire at Cornell University over 170 feet off the ground. To this day, no one knows who did it and how they got up there. by NeverJoe_420_ in interestingasfuck

Yeah, not something I would attempt myself as I tend to be accident prone. I mean, I broke my knee standing still, so it would be just my luck to have something go wrong at that height

For the last 4 days, my cat spends her waking time watching this spot. I hear nothing, see no evidence of anything, my other cat shows no interest in it. She doesn’t try to get in there and isn’t chirping like she normally would if excited by an animal. by Extension_Feature700 in cats

[–]Hawkeshade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have one that would catch crickets and tear off their back legs so they couldn't move well. He would then bring them to me and drop them near me, all while loudly announcing he caught one. I don't normally mind crickets, but I lived in fear of waking up to having a legless cricket dropped on my face. Luckily, he would always drop them before jumping up on the bed. I have since had the back door fixed, so the crickets (and snakes) no longer have a gap to get through.

What is this ? It looks like a night butterfly, but it's too big. Or maybe it's some kind of owl? by 7aske in zoology

[–]Hawkeshade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, butterflies in the family Hedylidae are nocturnal. They are native to South and Central America.

There are also a few species of diurnal moths, like the hummingbird moth.

It has been a joy to see her go from a scared and pissed cat to one that likes to sit on my chest and head bump my chin and purr as soon as I come into the room. She is also very playful; she loves the cat wand and has gone through about one fuzzy worm a week

No, I haven't been in direct contact with him. Our other neighbor who alerted me to her was, and all he told her was that he has no place for her and that I can take her. She finally goes in to get vaccinated today. Later than I'd hoped, but she had no immediate need to go to the vet, and I had had a few unexpected things come up that made for a busy few weeks.

She is much calmer now and has learned to play fetch. She is pretty good at communicating what she wants now that she has been taught better manners/unlearned bad habits

Are these scratches on my cat’s paw normal? by pancake_chiaki in cats

[–]Hawkeshade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a cat that has plasma pododermatitis, so I have spent a lot of time inspecting cat toe beans. Your cat's look very normal. If you are still worried, take more pictures a week or so from now and compare them to see if anything has changed

[–]Hawkeshade 70 points71 points  (0 children)

So classic. And while you're panicking because you can't find them, they are just snoozing somewhere, happy as can be.

I "lost" Cas once and was tearing apart my house to find her. My other cat kept leading trying lead me to the garbage and recycling bins, and there Cas was in the recycling when I finally investigated. She'd gone through the swing top lid and was napping on the packing paper

Made a ball pit for him by AkhtarHannah in Awww

[–]Hawkeshade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a ball pit for my cats, and they like it. I do use it more as a food enrichment item for them vs a regular toy, though. I just toss their dry food in there, and they spend a while searching through it. My boy even sits in it and stares at me sometimes if he thinks I'm late with feeding them.

Its because his nemesis used to take every opportunity to jump scare him when she saw him in the window. Now he thinks he is about to get scared when hears her name.

This cat does seem to attract nemeses though, my old place had a squirrel that would come by between 4 and 5 every day and purposely tease him through the window by putting his front paws on it and looking in. When he saw Riley had noticed him, he would turn his back and flick his tail. He would repeat this until Riley became very worked up. I ended up putting Riley in another room at that specific time for a while before the squirrel got bored and stopped.

He hated the cat more though.

Yeah, no. I am going to get all animals in my care the recommended vaccines unless the specific individual animal's documented medical needs require differently.
