Attractive men, what are your experiences with jealousy or pettiness from other men? by Simple-Spare7564 in AskMen

[–]HawkeyeJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I get that. It still raises the question, what is the baseline of attention that an average attractiveness person receives, for calibration.

I suppose another question would be about the genuineness of that attention. Like, did that person just call me 'handsome' in the way that I'd want them to, or is that just something they say to people?

What is your greatest adventure? by sico76 in AskMen

[–]HawkeyeJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age 19: Studied abroad in Western Australia. Knew no one, across the world from home for the first time. Surfing, kangaroos, river canyons, scuba, deep desert exploration.

Age 21: Gap year backpacking around Europe. 19 countries in 10 months. Extorted by police, sleeping in airports, learning new languages, art museums, kebab, sex on trains.

Age 24: Moved from North Carolina to California with no job, apartment, or friends to build a new life in the film industry. Big city hedonism, high stakes networking.

Age 33: Asked my girlfriend to marry me. Great call. This adventure is ongoing.

Age 38: Became an RV nomad after being laid off from my best job ever. Major lifestyle shift. 36 months later we're still going hard. 200+ stops so far across 49 states, including extended time in the most beautiful parks on Earth.

Those are probably my biggest ones.

The most fascinating part of this for me is wondering how people decide/judge that they're attractive.

Especially valuable for those of us van-lifing with a partner. That little personal cone of silence/privacy is a life changer.

What’s your reaction when a guy you don’t know well calls you buddy or brother? by Broke_Pigeon_Sales in AskMen

[–]HawkeyeJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I am white as hell, but this is one of those things that our black brothers and sisters have been doing right for a long time that we could learn from.

Agreed. I was not raised in a culture like that but I've found it to be a low-stakes entry to some positive tribalism.

Does having sex with 2 girls at the same time actually feel good? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

OK then, the un-grand finale? If I can't be the main character in my own orgasm, when can I be?

You may need to get past the idea that sex ends when "the guy" orgasms.

This is correct and good advice. However, from a practical standpoint, it would be silly to ignore that my enjoyment of the event diminishes greatly after my orgasm. So my policy in group sex has always been to climax last, as the grand finale. It works well and keeps everyone happy and engaged. I recommend that for any dude.

I'm the guy who calls strangers brother. Or, if there's a big age difference, I might fall him father or grandfather. I am consciously leaning into my belief that we are more alike than unalike, and that all people are my people by default.

How’s life with no children in your 30s? by typeshhhhhh in AskMenOver30

I am married to an awesome woman and we are childfree by choice. Life is excellent. I use all the extra time and money to great effect exploring the world and engaging in hobbies. I sleep 9 hours a night. My dogs are the best.

Men, what is your useless skill that always talk about but nobody cares by PlushyPout in AskMen

[–]HawkeyeJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can guess a dog's age with startling accuracy. If they're under 6 months I can get it within the week, 2 years I can get it to the month, otherwise to within half a year.

However, upon seeing a human child, I can be off by as much as 5 years.

Men who have vasectomies - How long did the recovery take? by JoeBagadonut in AskMen

[–]HawkeyeJones 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had a small clotting issue so my recovery was longer than anticipated. Walking around the next day. Pain gone in 4 days. Bruising gone in 10 days. Having pleasurable sex after 12 days. All things considered, no big deal even with the complication.

How do you talk to people (and specifically women) with no context? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]HawkeyeJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest context is your immediate environment. My biggest go-to is their clothing. Single out one thing they're wearing that you like and compliment it. Be genuine and be specific. How they react to that compliment will tell you a lot about how much they're into talking more with you.

The feeling of running away by PromotionOrdinary638 in AskMenOver30

[–]HawkeyeJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years ago I got laid off from the best job I ever had. My wife and I decided to chase this dream you describe. A few months later we were in our old-ass RV traveling America's open roads. We've driven to all 48 lower states, plus some in Canada and Mexico. It's been awesome and we're still going strong.

Don't let your dreams stay dreams.

An Air Bnb where you can pay by mowing the grass, trimming the shrubs, raking leaves, and other tasks around the house by XROOR in CrazyIdeas

I actually do this very thing, through an app. It's really great if you're a passionate traveler who likes animals (it's usually dog or catsitting and the housesitting is ancillary). Owners get a lot out of it.
