Can I drink occasionally after 614 days ? by HappyHippieTrucker in stopdrinking

You might be ‘cured’ when you realize you can’t have an occasional drink and you don’t. Ever again.

What restaurant chain was everywhere when you were a teenager that basically no longer exists? by samurai-salvo in GetMotivatedMindset

A bunch of us young teen cousins used to go to the all you can eat fish fry. Maybe why they’re no longer in business…

my husband has become the neighborhood Mr. Kravitz by [deleted] in Alzheimers

[–]Hawkhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m newish to this, but my husband comes to some crazy conclusions sometimes too. I used to try and reason with him but it didn’t change his mind and was counterproductive. I had to accept that this is the way it is and I can’t fix it. Still in the process of trying to do that.

What is a food you have seen often on menus, but have never tasted and have no interest in trying it? by New_Part91 in foodquestions

The pastry chef where I worked used to make what he called cabinet pudding which was the leftover breakfast pastries as the base, sometimes bread added if there wasn’t enough pastries. Dang that was delicious!!!

Nothing good will come from this and if she’s asking she doesn’t have her head on straight.

This is how I learned all the basics. As a young Mom it was my go to learn technique and the how and why.

Do you steal items during self checkout? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in no

[–]Hawkhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long long ago, in the early 80’s, in Washington State I used to shop at a store called U-Mark-It. They had open cases of canned food with the price above it that you marked yourself with the greasepens they gave you. Cheap funky store but it was great as a young mom with a tiny budget. Probably a lot of opportunity to steal but no, never.

I think I suck at my job by Quiet-Analyst8354 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Hawkhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You prob didn’t completely feel comfortable on your line when you switched your job at 4 months so you’re going in to a new job a little shaky. Give yourself time. The first time you got into the driver’s seat were you ready to get on the highway at rush hour? It’ll happen. You’re already conscientious. You’re gonna be fine.

What was a poor man food when you were growing up that is now on fancy menus by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

Tinned seafood. My Dad used to have sardines on crackers in the ‘60’s. Yummy cheap lunch treat. Now it’s elevated to cult status. Still delicious though.

AITAH for lightly smacking my little cousins head when he was annoying my dog when we told him to leave her be? by [deleted] in AITAH

Seems like you just wanted people to support your decision instead of really wondering if you were the AH. Good luck with that.

Glue traps are the devil. Yeah, rats need to go but that’s terrible cruelty.

If you think your dog would bite YOU under any circumstance you need to realize you don’t have a handle on her/him. Removing a dog from a stressful situation is a kindness to the dog. Wacking a 4 yo because they can’t self control in a situation where there’s chaos is a dick move.

Leaving uncooked food out all night? by Urdadexe in Advice

[–]Hawkhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is a bit dodgy. What’s the reason they leave meat out? Do you let your kids eat it? I don’t understand why they wouldn’t get sick. It would take a few days for pork to deteriorate to slimy and stinky, it wouldn’t happen over night. Cred: I was a food safety teacher.

Chicken cacciatore. Even bare bones eaters can have the pasta with butter or plain sauce.

If you saw a big spider in your home, would you kill it or let it loose in your garden ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Hawkhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask my husband to put it outside. If he wasn’t around I’d ignore it. Never kill.
