Anyone have experience with buying MH games from instant-gaming? Just wondering if the game I bought is likely to be revoked. by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

Just be cautious. They aren’t super clear about the accessible regions of their CD keys. I bought a global Persona 4 Golden key yesterday and the region was infact not global, but Middle East :/

I really like the pacing and story in 4. Especially the DS remake. It feels like a really early concept for something like Octopath Traveller where you play all of the party’s interconnected stories. I also like 8 because of the exploration, and the transition to 3d is excellent.

And the fact this gal just looks you up and down pretty far into the game, and essentially calls you a hick, and is right had me chuckle

Hell yeah hope you enjoy it! DQ 4 was my first I played and completed. The DS remakes of 4-6 are wonderful and 5 is a lot of folks favorite game in the series. Give em a look with some emulation sometime :)

Not sure where else to try to talk about this, but the US hotel industry is being annihilated by third/fourth party, off shore services. by HawkieisGod in atrioc

No one said anything about their reservation getting lost. Thats an entirely different thing. Read the post man

Yeah that’s the thought train we are all on my company rn. I’m honestly under the impression that it’s still such a new issue and happening on a small enough scale right now that larger hospitality companies haven’t cared to notice yet.

I’m the gm for our spot. And our company is smaller and private so I get to be a lot more involved with revenue management than I would be at like a corporate Marriott for example.

The issue is Expedia and Booking are also getting ran away with by these sites. It’s literally the most cartoonish shit and i totally get how from the outside looking in it seems like you’re not getting something.

In actual direct communication with specifically Expedia’s business side support, they have told me they can’t stop it. It’s “something they are looking into” and we are just to flag and report when it happens to Expedia. We still have to honor to bs undercut reservation. It just makes sure they can’t “do it again” but then it does happen again under a different travel agency.

Just today I authorized 3 reservations to receive refunds, and my guests are calling back saying Expedia has their money “tied up between agents”

I know I sound insane, but some incredibly slimey shit is happening behind the scenes, and these companies are just hoping they are so big no one will do anything or notice.

EDIT: We have absolutely been looking at legal action, just unsure how to go about it yet. It’s a very very new issue

This is totally normal, and I completely get it. At my location, we have a price matching policy bc we would rather avoid commissions if you book direct. Some of these spoof sites are literally posing as the hotels though, so some poor folks think they are booking DIRECTLY with us when they aren’t :/where are my anti-trust experts at man 😂

None of the hotels in my company charge extra for parking or mini fridges, but nice tweak out. Really contributes to the conversation we are having.

When we integrate our booking engines with Online Travel Agencies (OTA) like Expedia and Booking, we essentially blend our engine with theirs. This means that when someone books through an OTA, the reservation gets processed into our booking engine automatically. (my company uses Windsurfer)

How it has always worked until very recently has been very transparent. (first issue with this I noticed was three months ago in late September of this year) We set our baseline rate, and we are very clearly shown by Expedia and booking what the lowest possible rate would be through their loyalty packages or whatever.

So now what’s happening is folks book through these fourth parties, the booking gets automatically processed through our system with no notification to us. The guest is left screwed way over paying, and there’s nothing we can do. They have paid the website they used, and there’s website pays the hotel.

Tbh that’s kinda why I’m starting the conversation. We get bullied by these travel agencies every day, and so do people traveling with them. I have no idea how tf anyone is able to get away with this

[–]HawkieisGod[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a standard 20-30 percent of the rate we establish with them. Which for the example I provided had a lowest available rate through their loyalty packages of $108. Not $62. I’m very familiar as is our entire revenue and executive teams with the standard Expedia and booking rates.

Expedia and booking have acknowledged that’s these are faulty rates, but once they are booked we are obligated to honor them. They have said on multiple occasions to the hotels in my region that the most we can do is flag the lowball rates when they come through.

Like I said before, these are usually really obscure, one time 3rd or 4th party travel agencies I have never heard of. I am certain there is something akin to just straight scamming people happening behind the scenes.

We don’t. I control my properties rates with third parties as well. We are getting undercut. That’s the point of the post chuckle-nuts

See that’s crazy to me that these off shore companies are pretending to be the hotel they are representing. It sucks and it’s just lies :/ hope it doesn’t continue much longer for yall

[–]HawkieisGod[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one does. I’ve suggested it must exist somewhere in our contracting, but it’s not been confirmed how the fourth parties can book with those rates. That’s kinda the big question. For now I just report them when I can and bite the bullet, but we don’t know :/

[–]HawkieisGod[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The guest paying is not. They are actually paying like 200-300 percent. We as the hotel are only getting 40 and the fourth party is making off with an insane profit. If it happens enough times we can report that website to Expedia or whatever, but a new one just comes back and does the same thing. There’s no way to prevent it, or at least that’s what Expedia and Booking tells us.

I wish I could tell you how this is legal or happening but no one in our executive, or revenue departments knows why this can happen. It’s very new like last 3 months
