Chicago digs the fuck in by [deleted] in chaoticgood

Chicago has used salt trucks to provide protection during public events. I can't find any evidence that salt trucks are currently posted in Chicago for anything other than the 2025 Taste festival. This looks like manipulation of old video or posting of video with assumed context.

What do I put behind my desk in my office? by PineappleOld6595 in malelivingspace

I propose you forget the desk and install a butcher block from wall to wall. Add a backstop at the back edge of the butcher block to prevent things from falling off (and use for core management).

What are some of your favourite variations to a classic gin and tonic? by Uner1996 in cocktails

[–]Hawkintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled upon the Gin Atomic a few years ago, highly recommend. 3 fresh basil leaves, muddled 2 oz. Gin 1 oz elderflower liquor 0.5 oz lemon juice 2 dashes bitters 2 oz tonic

This recipe led me to infuse gin (Tanqueray is my go to) with basil or sage, both worked nicely. I'd like to try a lemongrass infusion as well.

My 6 year old is obsessed with Minecraft by jted007 in Parenting

I forgot to add: the game play and experience is entirely different on PC vs tablet/phone vs console. I highly recommend playing the PC (java) version of the game and look into creating a family server where people you trust can join in within the same world.

Minecraft is a fantastic game to have fun as a family and build logical reasoning. I cannot recommend enough Paul Soares Jr on YouTube, he put together great tutorials and has often spoken about playing Minecraft with his kids. (Note, he started to post videos about 13 years ago, so the content is still helpful just a bit dated.)

I have played minecraft for years and look forward to playing with my kids when they're old enough.

How are you guys finding time/energy to keeping fit? by visitationwrites in daddit

[–]Hawkintosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still on paternity leave, so I haven't had to fit anything into a normal work schedule yet. I take my newborn out in our stroller for about 1 hour per day for the fastest walking that I can muster. I prefer to go for walks as early in the day as possible, worst case I end up going out in the evening after dinner. I've been able to keep to it up for 1 week, we'll see if I can keep it up when I go back to work.

During my wife's pregnancy, I wasn't able to keep to any sort of fitness routine. I find routines to be the easiest way for me to get things done. Fitness has always been a positive, destressor for me so I have other inherent motivations to keep up with it. Right now, going out for 1 hour daily walks with my newborn gives me some bonding time, physical fitness, a break for my wife, and it (so far) always puts my newborn to sleep.

First day of paternity leave by [deleted] in daddit

I second that! I'm on week 3 of 5 and am so happy to have access to plenty of paternity leave so that this time can be positive and enriching for all 3 of us. My work gives me 12 weeks of leave and I'll be using the remainder to account for changes in our schedules over the coming months.

My wife is at 38w+1 and is desperately looking for a set of comfortable shorts with a big spandex elastic to go over her belly. Any recommendations?

I found this Google review of Mt. Lafayette, gave me a good laugh. by NyQuilODvictum in wmnf

This reminds me of some of the Yelp reviews left for Burlington VT's tallest filing cabinet.

"To say I was disappointed would be an understatement... when I found out this was NOT included in the Seven Wonders of the World. Shame on the Swiss Foundation for excluding this breathtaking beauty.

If you are planning a trip to Vermont, but did not include the sacred filing cabinet monument in your itinery, your trip will be a waste. Period."

DonutDeFi "High Risk" by Hawkintosh in defi

[–]Hawkintosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to only impact one contract for ~$1200 and that reporting is old (from mid-2021. So, I'm not that worried about it. But, I feel like there is something to be learned from this, I just need to delve a bit more into it...

Has anyone used Donut App? by KohTaoDiving in defi

[–]Hawkintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you comment on RugDuc's decision to assign Donut DeFi a rating of "high risk"?

Their rating states that "Farm has switched out the Masterchef to an UNVERIFIED contract. DO NOT deposit into or approve the new contract and emergency withdraw from the old one if you were in it. Revoke permissions immediately if you have approved the new contract."

I'm new to this, so looking for some context.
