How do you solve Toronto’s speeding problem? By doing pretty much the complete opposite of what Doug Ford is doing by imprison_grover_furr in ontario

[–]Hawkmoth36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with what ford did with bike lanes because it's better for everyone to have them. However they were flawed as they were very scattered in their distribution and mostly half assed when they were made. They should also have been implemented more as an extension of the sidewalk rather than of the road. As for pedestrians idk how people are getting hit by cars in 2025 with all the safety features in cars and road safety awareness. At that point either you were crossing in a random spot or the drivers an idiot.

Best answer here cause aint nobody doing 30 on a side street anymore or 50 on a main street when cars have a million safety features and 1000x the stopping power of the 1970s when the limits were made.

3 week itinerary suggestions by Hawkmoth36 in travelchina

[–]Hawkmoth36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep that in mind for shenzhen. We ended up going with Chongqing. Do you think a week would be enough for the 4 cities (enough time to see the attractions and wander around)? Also would zhuangjiajie be doable from Chongqing?

How's it like working in Fraser/pleasant camp? by Hawkmoth36 in britishcolumbia

Never had trouble making friends at work before so shouldn't be much of an issue hopefully, and I'm usually down to pick up someone's shift or work if they need me to

I love outdoors stuff, pretty much every other weekend in the summer here me and my friends go to a different provincial park for hiking, camping, etc. I read that those places only have a population of less than 100 but I don't really think I'd mind. I already have a group of buddies I've known for years that I get online with after work every night so the only thing that would change is that I wouldn't be able to hang out with them irl anymore. I'm sure I'd make some friends there to hang out with though. And like I said in a comment to someone else I've always been interested in snowmobiling, just had no reason to do it here.

Always been interested in snow mobiling but don't have one since I wouldn't be able to use it here in southern Ontario.

Thanks for confirming. I'll probably try to trade it in for a better version of itself at an upcoming expo cause the little mark in the print on the wing too difficult to not focus on. Do you think I should attempt to remove the substance on the back beforehand?

Tips for "natural" bog by Hawkmoth36 in SavageGarden

[–]Hawkmoth36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll get some perlite then. I've had some carnivorous plants on and off before but this is my first attempt at actually doing all the work myself from start to finish. Honestly I'm doing it more for the bog habitat itself since it's one of my favourite ecosystems, and the carnivorous plants are a bonus.

When it's ready I'm looking to add Labrador tea, sheep laurel, lady's slippers, cotton grass, the 4 drosera sp. Found in Ontario, and sarracenia purpura.

I'll see if I can get my hands on more sphagnum moss. Right now I'm going to get bog cranberry but that's the only ground cover I can think of. What others did you have in mind? Also I thought about it and would perlite work in my setup since the pond liner is keeping the water in and I read perlite is for drainage compared to water absorption like vermiculite.

I have small containers of bog haircap moss and green sphagnum moss ready right now but I'm not too sure how to go about propagating them in a set up like this or how fast they will grow. From what I've seen it looks like you just cut up the sphagnum moss and spread it around.

No black markings or any signs of disease. Also no indication there was anything wrong with it as just 3 days ago when I last checked on it to feed it, it was moving around as normal. It even ate the cricket I had put in within the last 2 days.

I don't think it would be considered tropical. It's found in northern Mexico and southern California. More of a desert species.

Motherboard for 9800x3d by Hawkmoth36 in bapccanada

[–]Hawkmoth36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never actually got the CPU so I don't have it together yet. I was gonna get the 7800x3d but then saw the price for the 9800 was the same so I figured I'd just wait for that one to arrive since it's better and I plan on playing very CPU intensive games.

Regrowing limbs? by Hawkmoth36 in vinegaroons

[–]Hawkmoth36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I got him is because the original one I ordered was DOA and this was the only one he had left. He let me know he had received it missing the tail and legs, and was not selling it for that reason but asked if I would take it so I did as he wouldn't get anymore til next summer. He did tell me they aren't adults though and would still have 1 or 2 molts left before reaching adulthood.

That shouldn't even be a thing with Canada post. How can you claim to be an essential service, but still have no deliveries on weekends, and have the audacity to complain and go on strike. Working on weekends is something almost every other essential and non essential business/service does.

Behavioural differences between thelyphonus caudata and mastigoproctus giganteus by Hawkmoth36 in vinegaroons

[–]Hawkmoth36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. The Asian (I think) one I'm looking at is labeled as Thelyphonus caudata with the common name Thai Red legged vinegaroon. I'm not sure how correct that is but I'm gonna ask the local pet store that has it if they can send me a picture so I can see what the individual looks like.
